Any fellow female fans out there??

Hey,

Just wondering if there were any female fans out there or am I on my own

I was introduced Vai and Dream Theater and heavier stuff 2 years ago when I met my boyfriend who owns a Jem 7v and a UV(We're just friends now), before that it was Sum 41, Blink 182 and stuff like that. Laugh at me, you know you want to

Anyway, Dave, Your stuffs great, and I'v only listened to the clips on your site and 'Daves party Piece' and I love it. At the moment, I'v got the Monument Shine clip looping on my pc and it gives me the shivers its that good. Cant wait to get the cd.

Well done dude!

lol, you almost make it sound as if that's why you broke up with him :P

Dave, I'd definitly wanna hear more of your solo stuff. "Dave's Party Piece' was pretty cool. I first saw you on Steve's live in astoria...and i have to admit...my friend and i laughed at your name... but you're the man! the interview was great! I particularly liked your impression of Steve's finger...a pretty good explaination as to why he plays quite a few folds better than I. And btw, no I'm not a female and I don't really know how many females are members of this forums...as far as the Astoria concert went, there were only a handfull of girls there...they got some special shots too...good stuff...I'd love to see more girls on the forum

I'm a huge fan of females... oh, wait... that's not what you were asking, was it?

On a serious note, we don't have too many women here, but there are one or two regulars, maybe more. It's always nice to get some non-testosterone-influence around here once in a while.

BultjeMad, you're not alone...

I've been a huge fan of (particularly) Vai and Frank Zappa, along with Satch, Led Zep, Sabbath, Van Halen and all those heavy guitar playing bands for around 7 years now. Most people find it very surprising that a girl likes Vai, Satch or Zappa, especially since I look like such a nice girl lmao. I guess I look like I should be listening to Britney, Madonna or any of that other crap on the charts... their mistake lol.

I don't play guitar though, so I don't join in on those discussions about theory, guitars and other stuff. But I know what I like and I don't like in regard to players. I only recently got into Dave's music, after I met him in Stockholm. His cd rocks!

Cool, cool.

nah, we split after 2 years partially probably because i didn't want to practice 8 hours a day on the keys as he does on guitar. Im glad he introduced me to this world of guitar gods tho.

can anyone give me a list of of similar guys or bands like, vai, dave, satch, dream theater, evergrey and pain of salvation so I can increase my collection. Cheers

Yay,

hey dragon, have you ever tried playing guitar?

I can play bits of erotic nightmares, almost at speed but nowhere near as clean as it should be, for the love of god,(not the fast bits). I can play some dream theater aswell.

the thing is, Iv been told countless times by various people and music teachers to stick to music and practice because aparently, im a natural musician, i can play flute, clarinet, keyboard, guitar. I just havnt got the commitment to practice, what should i do? practice and see how good i get, or what? Any ideas anyone?

I see Dream Theater, Evergrey, and Pain Of Salvation on that list, so I assume you're into prog.

Some cool bands like those are Dead Soul Tribe, Threshold, Fates Warning, Nightwish, Marillion, Symphony X, Explorer's Club, Savatage, Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius, Andromeda, Iced Earth. Those are all I could think of for now.

BultjeMad: Nah, haven't tried to play more than a few times back in high school... my friend who is pretty good has shown me a few chords but I'm not really interested. Plus I have really small hands so it's difficult to grasp the neck right, and stretch the fingers. I'm more into singing anyway.

The whole small hands thing is a myth. I have small hands, so I have to stretch more but there isn't much I'm physically incapable of playing. There's a lot I'm too lazy to learn admitidly, but not much 6 months of practice would not fix.

I wish my fingers were 3/4 of an inch longer...but that never really stopped me from playing. I play what i can play and that's just enough. I'm sure you hand is so small that you can't finger a E major so don't give up on guitar!!

hey try liquid tension experiment (a bit different but the line up includes john petrucci and jordan rudess from dreamtheatre) and again these are sort of different styles but yngwie malmsteen, vinnie moore, tony mcalpine, and joe satriani (just to name a few) have great albums out with amazing guitar work on them you would also get some great examples of really good guitar based musicians if you read the who would be a good 3rd g on the g3 tour thread lots op peopple have posted great guitarists there.

have you ever tried any flamenco like al di meola his stuff is nothing like vai or dreamtheatre but he shreds just as hard

Haha, this is a funny thread. You might have heard Vai say "Poor Dave, he's "stuck" in the Vai band." When he says this, he's referring to the notion that being a touring musician means girls lined up backstage and on the bus. However, if you've been to a Vai show, you notice the LACK of girls. There's nothing wrong with that, but it has made me appreciate female fans even more. Not just girls who want to meet bands, but girls who are actually into the music or are musicians themselves. I think that's killer. I still haven't figured out if dating a girl musician would be a good thing though... what do you guys think??

I know one lady that I would love to date. But I'm not into long distance relationships and I think she's out of my league.

Generally: Hopefully being involved with a musician would mean you don't get stuck listening to garbage top-10 crap all the time.
