He's a very nice guy.
Plays like heeeell.
Tubarão.
So far I like this guy Serj the most. Actually, his playing is similar to Steve and Dave's. But he also has a bit of a pop and ambient Floyd sound that makes it unique.
Keep em coming

Paul Clark (aka Clarky) over at the Satriani message board, who is currently on tour with the David Cross (of King Crimson) band in Japan.
He is incredible. Sorry no link to give ya so you'll just have to take my word for it

Rob Johnson is a big time shredder. He has a new instructional video, Chops From Hell. He's from my hometown.
Another guy that I grew up with, Matt Eddy. I think he's in North Carolina now. Even when this guy was in high school he could play anything and everything. Very versatile player.

Re: Best guitarists nobody has ever heard of
Neil Zaza's "Staring at the Sun" is easily one of my favorite instrumental albums. It's a total gem, pick a copy up. Oh, and his tone is to DIE for, particularly the semi-distorted stuff on that disc.
Dimitar's a talented bloke, but he tries WAY too hard to sound like Vai. He could be pretty good if he ever finds his own voice.
Guy I've gotten into lately - Vince Lupone. He's another mod over at
www.sevenstring.org
and he's got some stuff on our jukebox (and is an all-around stand-up guy, to boot.
)
Coenen's pretty sick, too - I remembered being FLOORED by "Shoreline" back when I first signed up to mp3.com. It was like a Collective Soul (at their heaviest) riff with some SERIOUS lead guitar (actually, in passing, CS's Ross Childress is pretty nasty too - he's a big
steve morse
fan, and it shows).
Also, there was this guy I met on mp3.com named Terry Nealms who was absurd - this was a LONG time ago, but I remember him being more-or-less neck and neck with
Rusty Cooley
for sheer technique. Haven't heard a thing about the guy since, I wonder what happened to him?

Re: Best guitarists nobody has ever heard of
I put in some more votes for Jamie Humphries,
Guthrie Govan
. Stuart Bull is pretty decent too. Other than that, I tend to stick to more mainstream stuff.
I like alot of the "lesser known" heavy/death metal guitarists too. People like Alex Laiho, Erno Vuorinen, Michael & Chris Ammot, Doc & Dallas Coyle, Buz McGrath, Ken Susi......I could go on all day. All of their bands rock muchly! Thats if you know who they are!
