Dave Weiner Status?

Anyone know what's up with "Shove the Sun Aside"? Dave's website hasn't been updated in a year! Any inside info on what he's been up to?

I used to talk to Dave all the time, but haven't been in touch much lately...last I talked to him he was working pretty diligently on his music...I think he was trying more to get a band together and play some stuff live than to get the album done. Maybe he'll post here and give us an update! No updates from Steve usually means that something good is in the works and is taking up all his time, so maybe that's the case here?

Hey guys!

I talked to Dave on the Phone a few weeks ago.

He is WAY busy like a mad dog recording his CD.
I believe he is doing allot of it himself and getting some great tips from Vai.

He told me he spent as much as 5-6 hours getting ONE little piece mic'd and recorded to satisfaction!.

Keeping checking the site as he did mention to me that he needs to update it cuz its been a looong time!

That's about it from me..

When the CD comes out expect it to be a really great production as Dave is working very hard on it!!

Peace!!!!!!!

Almost back to human.

Hey guys.

Thanks for wondering where the hell i've been. These days, sometimes i forget. but thanks for thinking of me.

First of all, Swift, what's up man? Still in Boston? How's Jessica?

To all.. sorry on the complete lack of upkeep on my site. It sucks I know. I have just not even been worryng about anything except finishing STSA. I'm going to have a full explanation of why it has taken almost 2 years to complete a 5 song cd. Here's an example.. it's 1:56 am here in Hollywood.. I'm sitting here manually taking the silence out from in between every kick, snare and tom hit on the entire cd. Think about that for a second and you'll get why I'm on the edge of insanity.

Anyway, the recording is done; i'm mixing it now. Either the cd will be out this year, or .. or.. i'll run out of things to break in my apartment.

Take care.
Dave

What software are you using? Didn't you mention Pro Tools once? If so, couldn't you use Strip Silence?

Hey Dave,

Thanks for the update. I'll be first in line when STSA finally does come out.

Btw, thanks for asking... Yep, we're still in Boston. Jessica is doing great, still in school. She's working part time designing logos for new companies. We got engaged last December and I'll be graduating this December.

Good luck with everything! I'm anxiously awaiting this disc and I'm sure a lot of others feel the same way. Try to stay sane!

I can't wait for the CD....thanks for the update Dave and Scott.

I guess some of that Vai anal-ness is rubbing off on Dave...hehe

Dave (Swift) congrats on the engagement. Tell her I said hi.

Yes i'm using Protools. And yes i'm using the Strip Silence plug. However, my good friends at Digi left out the option to add pre and post fades after being stripped which can leave nasty pops and waveform cut-offs where they're not wanted. Vai has shown me ways around this (i.e. gates), but even then it's not *exactly* right. So the other options is to do it by hand, which is what Steve does (for the most part) too.

Any other questions, i'll be happy to answer.

Cheers.

Dave-

I'll mail you a bunch of small, fragile objects if you pass me a free copy of the disc when it's done...

Haha, Thanks Drew. But I'm learning to curtail the rage. I'm going to have a heart attack by the time I'm 27 if I keep this up. I'm just going to watch that new movie Anger Management over and over. Maybe i'll learn something.
