Yeah, that strat they are coming up with for ya sounds pretty cool! It will be interesting to see how well it holds up against your current 7's. Will be good to see too, sounds pretty damn cool!

Should be done by Sept or Oct according to Ibanez.

That 7-string Strat sounds like my dream guitar, if only it had a Humbucker in the bridge

What kind of single coil pickups are you having put in it?

hey Two hands...

The single coils will all be Dimarzios. Not sure of what kind exactly, I just asked for strat-sounding pups.

Question

Re: dave's guitar

I dunno if anyone has posted about this.....dave I noticed you have a mini toggle switch between the volume and tone knobs on some of your custom machines...am I assuming correct that this is some kind of coil-tap or phase switch?

No, it's a kill switch. Some times I have to switch between the guitar and the acoustic or the guitar and the sitar very quickly and it's faster to flip a switch than roll the volume knob.

Re: dave's guitar

I also thought it was a coil tap. But now that you have your own model with single coils, I guess there won't be a need for one anymore, eh?

Dave, I see you playing a 6-string acoustic live, did you ever think of playing your 7-string acoustic instead? You mentioned before that the B string on it creates some unwanted noise, is this the reason why you opted to go with the 6?

Best,

Jim

I'll be playing my 7 string acoustic live with my band, but I don't need it for the Vai stuff. The low B does have some unwanted buzz, but it's not bad. It adds character.

Re: dave's guitar

First of all, is the first time I read this forum and I'm really surprised to read so important musicians like Dave Weiner. I'm spanish and I could see you in Madrid last saturday. It was a great concert, but many problems broke the concert, first of all problems for Steve with his strings and the floyd rose... and after four or five songs, the smoke machine and the lighthing in the Riviera Night Club broked, and we can't enjoy all the Steve's spectacle, but Steve is a very professional musician (and Jeremy, Dave, Billy, Tony...), and they make a very good concert, like nothing was happend! and all the spectator there were enjoying but obviously the problems spoiled the concert a little, but... I hope that next year Steve Vai or G3 Tour came again to Madrid and i'll enjoy more and more with that incredible musicians. I have 26 years old, and I love shred guitarist and all the good musicians, but in spain is very difficult to see american bands because here people doesn't like good music, they preffer salsa, pop, raeggaton and ****ing music like that... really in Spain is difficult to hear good music, there are not good bands or good musicians, we only have good guitarist in flamenco music, they are incredible!! (Paco de Lucia, Vicente Amigo etc...) but in rock music.., nothing!

I hope that you Dave and Steve came again to Madrid, we have a wonderfull city to visit, good restaurants and all you want you can do that in Madrid.

Please Dave, can you resume your visit in Madrid and your feellings in the concert? thanks!!

Thumbs up

Re: dave's guitar

that thought crossed my mind after I posted, but its better to ask than to make unfounded theories...I do something simular with my noise gate when switching from guitar to lap steel or acoustic.
