Dave's recording stuff

Hey Dave,
I saw, in your Studio gear pics, a Digi 001. Is that what you used to record the new album?
Joe

P.S You were great with Steve in glasgow!

Hey Joe.

Glad you enjoyed the show in Glasgow as did I!

I did use the 001 to record everything but the drums, however, the actually 001 unit was used solely as a dongle to make Protools work (b/c Protools doesn't run without a piece of Digidesign hardware attached to it). The front end I used was an Avalon 2022 dual mic-pre, Avalon 2055 Dual EQ, Manley Variable MU compressor to an Apogee PSX-100SE A/D converter then optically into the G4.

I hope that helps.

DAVE

Cool stuff...what version of Protools? Doesn't the 001 only support PT LE?
Cheers mate,
(and get that international shipping of your CD going... I missed out in Holland)

Yes 001 = PT LE, but a lot of the time I had 2 systems sync'd b/c each song (except Tourmaline) is over 32 tracks.

And yes, I'm working on the int'l distribution, it's hard to get those kinds of things done from the road though. But soon!
