Fitness and the Road : What do you do?


Hey Dave,

I recall a Rockline interview with Steve and Joe Satriani where Joe was kidding Steve about how much of a health food nut he was. I'm just wondering after reading through your tour diary and concert reviews, what do you guys do on the road to try to stay fit? I'm assumming there isn't a "run for the border" through a taco bell drive-thru after a show. Do you try to get in work-outs to try to stay as healthy as possible?

I do 100 pushups and 500 stups everyday. It's hard to get any real cardio in, but I try to do some jump roping as well.

hehe and perhaps was that one of those ab machine things you were carrying out of the Boston show? We all guessed that's what it was but none of us were sure

As of late it has come to my attention that since I have stopped doing such activities as those you have mentioned, I have slowly developed a second chin...aside from being a comical place to hide guitar picks it is rather unsightly. It is for this reason that I am going to take up these activities again, rather than my usual workout of walking to the pub and lifting a pint.

Hey Dave,

You might find some yoga type stretches good for the abs too, all situps make the muscles tight, but if you don't stretch them to add length all those contracted muscles can start putting a strain on your back.
