Hey Hi there! I have a few question to do...when I found this forum I said to me...who better person that big Dave!! lol well...anyway I'm just a guy from Dominican Republic who plays guitar and wanna it became a passion for the rest of his life! I'm realizing a solo career as a musician but...you know these walls doesn't let me...I'm just recording and producing an solo album (just like you did!) and I think it's good material but what if I want to put this whole work into a real thing? Do I have to sign a record label? what kind you suggest? what in general I am suposed to do? I know that Mr. Vai gave you a shot and everything and that you can sign up in record label such as FN thanks for Steve. Still...I'm saving money to put my gear up with Bob of CAE and buy some other studio gear for more pro recordings...by the way I don't know if I have to be unique and evolved like Mr. Vai to do this...but a have a few cool archievement in my music road like: produce a whole album all by myself, write in others instruments other than guitar, consider as an arranger and a composer, a tribute to the prestigious band Dream Theater in my country (you have to have chops to do this! lol) among others...right know I am growing in all that and do it better (thanks to the 100% Mr. Vai inspiration).

Sadly,for me, Michael Camilo (prestigious Dominican-born musician and pianist) was giving a whole Berklee college of music scholarship...and for a few problems I couldn't sent my demos...aarrggg but things happen...just like when you sent to wash an Steve shirt dry clean and the guy wash it! hahahaha

My suggestion..

Record your cd as best as possible, make a website, sell your cd on your website through Paypal and get out and play as much as you can. That's really all you can do. It takes time, but if you work hard, something good will come of it.

Thanks for the advise big Dave I'm really looking foward to it I'm almost finishing the CD work but I was lucky to just gather wonderful musicians to play my music and do a few concerts in a future!!

PD: I'd already send this same message to Mr. Vai to see what he can tell me about it.
