New Tabs Coming Soon.

For the next Tab installation, I'm going to do the main riff in Long Run and also the first lead riff in verse 1. It's a tongue twister that flies in and out of different modes.

But that's not all!! (cheesey announcer voice)

My amazingly-insane skill-beast Wolverine-looking bassist, Chris Maute, is going to tab out the bass line for Long Run as well... seeing how it's quite tasty. The line was originally written and performed by none other than the king of funk/slap himself, Philip Bynoe. Chris has chops, style and feel that rivals the best of them and has done an awesome job bringing the line to life.. live.

I'll have tabs and videos for both up soon (doing lots of practicing, transcribing and rehearsing now so give me some time).

Musically yours (especially you ladies :P)
Dave

Re: New Tabs Coming Soon.

Hey Dave and Dave fans!!

Chris Maute here and I have to admit that this is the first forum I've been a member of so take it easy on me!!

Just a follow up[ on the tabs post, earlier this week Dave gave me the solo bass tracks for his tunes so that I could fine tune the basslines for live performance. I'll have the main riff of Long Run tabbed for both 5 and 6 string bass by this weekend (Philip Bynoe plays it on 6 string [I think], I play it on 5). Then you can pester your bass playing friends to learn it so you can rawk it together after y'all learn Dave's crazy guitar part.

Did I mention Rawk?

Re: New Tabs Coming Soon.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Bass tabs are done for the main riff in Long Run! I have it in bass clef for the brave bassists, as well as 5 and 6 string tabs. Unfortunately they are handwritten and scanned in as jpegs, but I've recently downloaded Power Tabs and I'm slowly learning how it works for future submissions.

At rehearsal this weekend Dave will video record me playing it at various tempos to further assist the learning of this monster riff.

I have emailed them to Dave to post on the site, enjoy.

Maute

Re: New Tabs Coming Soon.

I had a bass student ask me to teach him a cool slap bassline last night, so I chose to teach him the main riff to Long Run to test the waters and see how 'playable' it is. Admittedly this guy had slap skills already, but by the end of the lesson he was very close to getting it.

So now that Dave posted the guitar main riff for Long Run, everyone should get your bass playing friends to shed this riff so you could play it together! If they don't have slap skills before they look at the riff, they most certainly will when they're done with it.

Have fun, and RAWK!

How much times do you practice a certain song before you record it?

Re: New Tabs Coming Soon.

I try to get what I'm about to record as good as possible before I hit the red button. That way, less overdubs and editing are needed. So I usually practice it til I've got it then just do one take (usually hehe).
