I wish it wasn't true but it is. As a part time web designer it makes my job harder trying to design for so many different sizes. Just think what webdesigners could do if everyone was above 1024!!

For wallpaper size, I find that to be quite stupid. Just make everything at 1600x1200, and let the lower rez dudes sort the sizes themselves.

For websites it's a pain indeed though. I run at 1280x1024 and it sucks having to do a website for 800x600 viewing....
