Piezo output on your Ibanez

Hi Dave,

I've seen you three times with Steve and have enjoyed your work. In fact, my wife and I both enjoy listening to your CD quite a bit.

I noticed on your website that you ran the piezo output direct to the board for the acoustic sound. I have similarly equipped Ibanez and run the piezo output to an acoustic amp. I am trying to "soften" some of the piezo harshness and was wondering if you used any effects between the guitar and the board to accomplish the same thing.

So far I've been using a Zoom (504 II, I think) processor that helps a lot, but doesn't quite do the trick.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

from the peanut gallery - acoustics are typically strung much heavier than electrics. This compresses them quite a bit, the dynamics aren't as explosive. So, this poses two possible suggestions - 1.) move up to 10's or 11's to tame some of the explosiveness in the high end, or 2.) run a light compression between your peizo output and the board, or add light compression in the mix.

I haven't tried recording with my double edge bridge on my new guitar, and I can't remember what I used to do with my lst DE-equipped Ibanez...
