Talking

steve vai & the breed

just a little note to Dave and the fan's. I took my girlfriend to see the show on March 22nd in Winston-Salem NC. I had seen Steve Vai w/DLR and w/Whitesnake but never out on his own(except on DVD's). If you ever get the chance to see them..go,go,go,go. You will not regret it.
The place where the show was being held was totally not what me nor my girlfriend expected. It was a small venue and basically a dump. A small, wood planked building that I'm sure was rocked off it's foundation just a little. Kinda scary actually. As Steve said during the show, it was like playing in his living room, seriously, i bet you couldn't have got more than 500 people in this, probaly less than that. But you know what, it set the stage for an unbelieveable show. Eric Sardinas opened up for them and from there it was like we crossed over into the twilight zone. I mean old ass wooden floors in a building shaped like a movie theater where the band played down at the bottom of the slant, to an old leaky roof where my girlfriend and I were steadily dripped on from the rain outside. The sound resonated so loud and clear that I went to sleep w/my ears ringing w/the music and awoke the next day hearing the same thing. After the show was the best though, the guys from the band came out of the tour bus one by one for the meet and greet. They were just too cool, just normal guys that happened to be in a rock band. We took pic's, they signed stuff, I talked to Steve about 10 min's about various stuff, but mainly about what he had written in his journal's. It was the coolest thing I've ever been a part of. It still seem's like a dream. Thanks Dave for signing my guitar, even if is an ovation, and to the rest of the band for signing it also. thank you, thank you, thank you.........

Re: steve vai & the breed

frethound, I was there too! Yeah, felt like an old moonshine barn! I only wish I had gotten there earlier...I had to stand on this makeshift bartop at the top left to see well (a 5'6" guy, I found it hard to peer over the others)! Still, even way back there it felt so close to the band!! They were awesome (I posted my concert review/thoughts in another post.)

ARGGGHH they finally came out of the bus! AIEEE someone please shoot me. With the drizzling rain, and some people mentioning the guys may be long gone, I finally left. All I got the chance to meet was Jeremy, who was really cool! Spoke briefly with Eric too... I shoulda stayed longer...damn my doubting if they would come out! I have to go beat my head against a wall now....*whimper* *wack* *groan*

You can get a free account as http://img.photobucket.com. You can also upload pictures and share albums at http://photos.yahoo.com but you can't host them....you can just link to the albums. But with yahoo, you get unlimited photo space and no bandwidth limits.

Question

Re: steve vai & the breed

Okay I am in no way shape or form computer literate. But I am going to try and do the Yahoo link thing so I can show off some of the pics me and my boyfriend got at the Ziggy's show on March 22. I don't know if it will work but I am gonna try it. I just wanted to warn you that it may not work.

http://photos.yahoo.com/boogie2479

Okay I guess that I did that right. I can only hope....

Okay well I just tried it and it worked so you guys go ahead and take a peek if you like. We didn't get any pics of Tony or Billy, but there are some of Dave and Jeremy and Steve. I hope you all enjoy it....

Re: steve vai & the breed

Cool Pics! So rare for something like that to happen with infamous players & bands these days. Just more proof they are a rare "Breed" indeed. Oh why didn't I wait longer! Ah well...next time I'll know better!

BTW, did the EVO experience before the show just involve Steve, or did the others participate in that? Just curious!

Seems like it's mostly Steve's gig, but the rest of the band was accomodating to the EVO folks during soundcheck. If there was idle time, they gave autographs, talked to us, etc.

Re: steve vai & the breed

that's my girl, them are some kick ass pic's huh? that's me and my girlfriend in the pic's she posted. I was kickin my ass for leaving my camera in the car during the show, but i'm glad i did otherwise i probaly wouldn't have any film for afterward's. tony was sick so he went straight to bed afterwards and well, I just couldn't really get to billy, i think i got to steve fairly easy because my girl and i were right there when he got off the bus so it just worked out. i still can't believe it, i turn around and look at my guitar hanging on the wall and i'm like, did it really happen?

Re: steve vai & the breed

I hear ya about the camera. Every concert I'd been to before was in a more strict environment where cameras are NOT allowed. Thus I left mine at home...

I was amazed at the fact that some had a video camera, filming the entire concert! MAN! I'm waiting for some videos to pop on the net!

I got to peek at the whole EVO thing. I guess it pays to be tiny and girl. It seems like they were enjoying themselves. I know I would've loved to just be a fly on the wall for that......

Re: steve vai & the breed

Good pics SweetPea!

Man I hope for the next tour (damn I always have to say "the next tour", it sucks to be unemployed) I can experience what you experienced.

90% of the times I go alone to gigs and it sucks not to have a savy companion that knows the ropes of how to aproach a band after the concert, I´m a bit shy... I need someone that has the "courage" to "take the bull by its horns". The times I have company I´m the one that drives, so I have to leave as soon as the show ends to avoid traffic jams.
