Vai's new cd.
I've been listening to Steve's new disc for about a week now (before you ask.. it's not out yet.. I have it early to learn for the new tour). I think it's some of his best work. The writing, production and yes, vocals, have pushed the bar up a few notches. It's got some really nice heaviness to it aswell. His playing sounds like a combination of every style and tone he's had since the beginning. I highly recommend it. Hopefully, we'll be playing most of it live.. which is going to be quite the task... one I'm definitely looking forward to tackling.
Dave

Great, I can't wait! I'm glad to hear he's pushing his singing further, and I like the 'heavy' part too!

Re: Vai's new cd.
So Dave, when you learn this stuff, how do you go about it? Does Dr Vai provide you with sheet music, tab, a video? Does he make little mixes with just the guitar parts you're going to play?

What a tease!!
Thanks though, Dave, and hopefully he'll release a 'teaser track' or 2... that little video on his site just isn't enough

Yeah me too, cant wait to hear the "heavy" stuff. I have always thought he was well suited to the "heavier" type of stuff. Cant wait to hear it!

Re: Vai's new cd.
I absolutely can't wait. I got my tickets to see Vai and "The Breed" (how did he come up with that one?) and I hope you guys are going to be playing quite a bit of new stuff! I've been checking out the Real Illusions mini-sight and I gotta say, Steve is a very deep, heavy, and eccentric fellow. All the metaphysical/paraphysical as well as tangible worlds he visualizes to create his work is pretty intense. It's funny to put something like Real Illusions and compare it to the concepts behind Wes Montgomery "hey I think this sounds really cool!" But I can't wait till it comes out!!!

Re: Vai's new cd.
Heavier side of Vai? Alien Love Secrets was quite heavy for my taste. If it's heavier then that, It may no be such a good thing. I'm sill anxious though. We haven't got Vai stuff for a while now
I also noticed he changed his site to reflect on the new CD and Guitar, cool stuff

Re: Vai's new cd.
I´m really anxious to hear Steve´s new album. Vocals? oooh brother! if Steve did the vocals I´ll be completely ecstatic! I really like when Steve sings.
