i would disagree. look back at what they have created over the years. they certianly have the tools and the talent.

as for the JS2 being 'over' priced. surely two things. something is only worth what someone is willing to pay. and if Fender can charge £10,000 thats pou nds sterling baby, for a dark green strat with a gold jaguar logo on it. I think Ibanez can try and price this one at what they think a collector will pay.
Let face it, its unlikely to be a player after all is said and done.

Re: 2005 NAMM Report

It's really fun to see people bashing Ibanez on a website dedicated to an Ibanez guitar.

Re: 2005 NAMM Report

Wow...Giger and Ibanez collaborating...this is a dream come true <insert happy-crying emoticon here>

Now if only it was a 7-string, hardtail RG, I'd sell everything I have (and some things I don't) for it

I noticed no one commented on this yet:
http://namm.harmony-central.com/WNAM...R/AX110XL.html

Looks like the guitars the guy from Taproot was using, except with a tone knob, and many cost-cutting features.

I'm still very interested in it though

Re: 2005 NAMM Report

The H.R. Giger RG looks great! Something different, very nice. Ibanez Prices are not that bad in todays times, when you go out and look at 10 other major brands quality and lack there of in the same price range/ features, play them plug them in, feel the ones with trems, ouch, they don't even compare!

Now as for the new mirror Jem, $3100? Is there something im missing about it? Very boring on the inlay side of things, yet it does look cool, however more than a VWH? Does it come with a custom case and some xtra's?

Over all the new line this year is killer, serious and classy with some creative stuff, I give them a thumbs up!

Re: 2005 NAMM Report

Great pictures, Rich. The Jem77b breaks my heart, though. Oh well. It just means I have to work harder this year. Heh. I'm liking the RG370 and the RG350 models, though. It looks like the natural wood color is the trend this year? Lots of natural finishes and subtle finishes rather than dynamic ones.

I wonder if I can land me a Jem7DBK for a good price. It would be a nice compliment to my UV777. Then again, I'd love to find an older UV...like a classic model. Talk about sticking out like a sore thumb amongst the natural colors

Wrap me up 3 of those please.
PRS are so far their own ass - it's not even funny......although it is....
The new jem is a bit overpriced considering features but there are quite a few people that are exited about it so clearly some like it and don't mind the price.
Can't see it outseling (or outlasting for that matter) the VWH though.

Won't outsell nor outlive the WH, it'll still be around when SV is sporting long gray hair. As for the bellyachin, let's revisit the DNA threads. 70% screaming about the lunacy, the rest excited and ready to lay their money down. Same ole same ole same.

Re: 2005 NAMM Report

Whether it be a JS2 or a PRS Dragon (or a Ron Thorn designed Koi Pond Fender Strat - Anyone at NAMM Should chek it out!!) These companys know exactly who will buy these guitars and knows what they will spend. At the end of the day these companies spend HUUUGE amonts on advertising and that is what these models are. Look at all the forums, look in the next lot of guitars mags that have a NAMM round up - it is all free advertising. Like the High Fasion shows... nobody can afford to buy that stuff either and the ones that do, don't wear it!! What it does do is generate free advertising and sell perfume to the Masses.

These guitars are the same - they generate all the free Press (They are alway going to take a pic of the 'most expensive guitar at the show' or 'the strangest guitars with Steve Vai's blood in it at the Show' etc. etc

What these guitars do is sell RGs, JSs, PRS CE and SE, Mexican Strats, Epiphones etc. And they know that they have a few fans with inexhaustable funds who will take all the fancy stuff.

In Fairness to the JS2 in the grans scheme of things, and with a different perspective
Is it a few hundred bucks better than a Crystal Plantet?? I guess so.
Is it that much more than if a reputable dealer got a perfect, untouched JS10 in and put it up for sale?? I suppose not.

There are definitely enough people in the US to gobble up the 20-30 odd that will go there (many will be bought in 2s or 3s by a few people) I'm sure there will be many that go around the world will end up bought up by US buyers also.

(Creating a shortage is another marketing tactic too LOL!)

Just found out that the local store here ordered one of these.
Atleast I'll get to noodle around on a $40,000 guitar.

Re: 2005 NAMM Report

Yea, but who's dumber. The guy that treats it like a forum or the dope that argues back with them the whole time telling them it's not? The dope that argues back of course!! Not like me not to argue though I should just shut the page down and let it stand, it's run it's course and is getting just stupid long, but I always wanted people to know there was a place they could leave their coments good or bad and they would stand, which is why that last assclown was the only EDIT on the entire page
