Yup, this is not the DBK replacement.

If this is priced above 7V (list over $2500) I fail to see who would buy it.
It doesn't have any of the traditional top of the line jem features apart from the 77 style routing.
I believe you guys, just can't imagine what Ibanez are thinking.
Also if this is not the replacement of the 7D, what is?
Seems weird but I'm not interested in a shiny guitar anyway regardless of the price.

I wouldn't bet whatever is shown is the final product. At this price point expect vine or unique inlays.

So is this the 77FP replacement or a year early 7VSBL replacement?

Who says they "think". LOL.

Now to be honest, I don't know enough fine details yet about the axe to agree or disagree with it's final pricing. I would not take that picture as final anything.

Hypothetically speaking, I will say that a mirror finish DBK will surely disappoint alot of casuals as you posted. But it will sell to the core market even at a higher price and even if it's met rudely in the marketplace it should fare better than the VSBL. Hopefully this axe will be something more than that. Time will tell... glen

I hope they mirror the headstock as well. It'd be silly to have a plain black headstock on such a flashy guitar.

That's the final product guys. And the pricing is above a VSBL.

The mirror finish is VERY impressive. They have come a long way from the original prototypes.

there you go.... now we just need a hi-res photo of it ... glen

ps - sounds like the year delay was worthwhile with the finish as a big feature & selling point.

I imagine that the mirror finish is actually quite difficult to do - which is why the pricing will be up there.

To answer some other questions that I've seen here.. (but maybe not in this thread):

- The pickguard is also mirrored - not clear.
- The pickups are EVOs (but to tell the truth, I'm not sure here.. I could be wrong. I've not heard about any new DiMarzio pickups.)
- The neck has reinforcement but it's not the bubinga stripe kind. The neck doesn't appear to have a scarf joint - and has a larger heel behind the nut than previous jems. I'm really not sure about the details here. The locking nut is not thru the neck. I have a photo of this - will try to get it up today.

Sounds like a Prestige-type neck with a volute and a top-mounted nut (like on the RGT3120).

I'm definitely interested to see this thing in person. Could be a nice addition to my current rotation of gigging axes!

Ah - see there you go - it's called a volute? I'll have to remember that. Sheesh - I feel like a dummy. When I saw it I was like "Just look at the sustain!"

What I do notice is that the volume knob is awfully close to the strings, like the original jems.
