Judging from Steve's post, it almost sounds like the "chrome" JEM actually has a layer of Mylar or a comparable shiny material adhered to the top. Especially since he said that the top contour is starting to "wrinkle". The LED fretmarkers sound pretty cool though!

I don't care for it much myself... I like the chrome illusion jem better. Now I love the js chrome boy! I think its the curves of the body, makes it look better in chrome to me.

There's a photo taken on Jan 11, 2003 of Steve and
Billy Sheehan
rehearsing. Looks like a chrome JEM.
Here's the link

Prior to the london gigs (dec 2001) the guitar had a
chrome vine
, after it had
dot inlay
due to the SIMS lights.

Echo...Echo...Echo...Echo...Echo...
i feel for you man, how many time have you got to say it for people to listen.
i've thought about a 'real' chrome jem for more then a little while and i'm just not totally convinced that it would look as good as the js10th/js2 as the curves make the reflection so much nicer. (speaking photographically) i clear (js2k) type jem with internal 'lazer' etching would work, but cost about as much as a small island in the med to produce.

mirrored jem
Yeah, I must agree the prospects of a new jem of such mag' would be pretty awesome, vines or sims? Hummm tuff one. I had mentioned a long time ago on how cool it would be to have a mirror ball sytle jem like the warlock
Paul Stanley
plays, and have a mirror vine on the neck. That broken mirror affect is just timeless!
