I'm suprised it's even got this high. It was only owned by steve, doesnt have his blood like the production ones.

Even slashes guitar went for £6,000 and he is more well known.

i emailed the addy and put an initial offer. they're hoping to get $25k for Cliff. I hope they get it as I'd hate to think of what happened if he didn't discover Steve & Joe!

I just hope the "winner" is actually a buyer who can pay, and not someone who just wanted to bid on Steve's guitar.

I haven't seen any info saying it doesn't have the blood. Perhaps Rich can confirm this..

It tells you on the e-bay site. Its only a prototype, not containing his blood. Not really a prototype though, surely they would have to test it first, hence the need for a real prototype.

i thought it said on there too, oh well. As long as people know, someone would be seriously p1ssed if they bought it without reading it, suppose it is a bit misleading.

nope its nowhere on it, but steve does say this which makes it even more misleading:

"If one of these guitars pop up in a hundred years from now and they scrape the DNA to make a Steve Vai clone, perhaps that guy can get his music on the radio."

Yeah. I think we will see problems with that auction when some big cheese with too much money decides to buy and then finds out it aint the "real thing".

Although, it does sat " if one of these guitars pop up", which doesnt actually say this guitar. I think they have worded that very well to cover their own asses. Still misleading.

Yes and we put realistic bids knowing we'd get outbid. So for the good cause, we pushed the price up.

No need for the comments, they only cause bad vibes amongst people.

Let me clear up some things:

The auction clearly states that this guitar does NOT have blood in the paint.

And yes, this is the prototype - the first DNA guitar made.

Ibanez5000 - I'm not sure what you're trying to suggest when you say we'll "see problems with that auction when some big cheese with too much money decides to buy and then finds out it aint the "real thing"."

This is the "real thing".. and if you're a person who can afford to drop serious money on the guitar, you would have read the auction clearly.

Your comments are largely conjecture and assumption. Please don't litter this thread with further comments unless you have checked your facts first. There is nothing misleading about the auction and we aren't "covering our asses."

The bottom line is, this is one of Steve Vai's guitars, and a well-known one at that. The purpose of the auction is to raise funds for a very sick man.
