Re: Js2prm

He seemed pretty confident that he'd be able to wrangle at least one, but he might not bother now that his #1 sucker is out of the picture. LOL

I think the DNA/CP combo purchase was the last of my insanely-expensive Ibanez binges. I AM definitely interested to see how the RGAs turn out though.

Re: Js2prm

After reading through this thread again, I noticed nobody has metioned what the finish will be. (Maybe I missed it???)

If the finish is known (aluminum, mirror, etc.)...what is it?

99% of my inventory comes from your side of the river. After 10 hours on the phone I've barely managed to secure a few from the rest of the country, none guaranteed ;///

Re: Js2prm

OK, this is the latest I've ever gotten back to the hotel to start working. NAMM report may and may not get online today, at least not all of it that's for sure. But this is pertanent

It is the alumiboy, but, [and whoever said it in another thread congrats, you win the boobie prize, so go squeeze some biguns!!] it's basswood capped in aluminium and then polished. Absolutely no detectable seams, excellent look, but there were some minor flaws. Looked better that any 10th though. No chrome, it's still got the basswood core to contend with. They added a phase switch [2 wat micro below the tone]to it so now it's probably the most tonally diverse JS so far. It's got the original Edge of course, and they threw Dimarzio's new version chromed pickups in it [I was told a couple months ago they were chroming pickups with a new technique that left the finish much tougher and resilient to all the problems they've had before [I don't take that to mean they're bulletproof]]. The inlays are abolone dots inside a very thin edge of mirror material, headstock is a chrome version of what they put on the JS2KPLT's [I would have preferred JS10 style but I don't get to make that call].

List price $5329.99
US availability
Chesbro - 4
HUSA - 34
Total production - 60

Re: Js2prm

"Capped" with aluminum or "coated" with aluminum?

I think somebody mentioned that the finish is sprayed on as an aluminum powder that's then "melted" with some kind of solvent. Is that the finish you were referring to? Is it clearcoated at all? I'd be surprised if it weren't, because aluminum will oxidize and get a gray/black patina over time, especially when it's in contact with the oils and acids in our skin.

Sounds kinda cool. But obviously more for collectors than players.

Re: Js2prm

The Japanese gentleman was not going to go deep into the details of the process, and "capped" is probably more my word than anything I heard there. I'm not sure what I heard, maybe it was "covered" or something else just as generic.

It was rumored they were going to try and chrome the cases. To mean that means a molded case and plasti-chrome. Ehh, I'd much rather have a silver tolex UV1000ish.

Re: Js2prm

Since they obviously saw the error of the 15th labelling and changed it to the JS2.

And it didn't matter who I asked, nobody could tell me what PRM stands for.
