I think a Poll is in order as to why the difference in this raffle and the last. The last was sold out weeks before the limit, and this one is not finding that kind of support. There has to be some reasonable explanation.

I don't think anybody's saying 'never again'.

It might be the last one *for a while*, but i don't think anybody's been so put out by this that it's left a bad taste.

I thought the first contest was great - it all went smoothly and the winner had his Jem within 2 weeks time.

Seriously though, I'd make it a bit more prominent on the main page with a big graphic announcing the competition, and FYI, the text on the main page says the contest is now closed "2 months from March 6th".

I think the contest is a superb idea, and while doing one every 2 months would become stale, I think doing one every 4 months would be a great idea. Maybe a Guitar around January to beat the Christmas Blues, and then maybe a Mesa Boogie or something similar.

I hope yourself and Glen don't feel too disheartened by the last few entries selling slowly, the rest of us really appreciate the work you're all putting in.

IMO, it comes down to two things...

1) Not enough time had passed before the 2nd contest was introduced. Some people were still jazzed after the first one, but not all. The first contest had a lot of 'lurkers' entered. Not as many showed up for the 2nd one.

2) The 2-step entry process seemed a bit confusing for a lot of people and i wouldn't be surprised if a few who might have joined said 'f this, it's too much work'. The fact that it's called an 'essay contest' now didn't help either.

what kenny said (minus the "too much work" part)

* overseas shipping (people might have been unrealistic as to S/H customs)
* the word RAFFLE is alot more appealing to people than CONTEST.
* $5 more for a guitar alot of people don't think of as favorably as the VWH.
* people who just entered might have been sitting out this one, waiting for the next one.
* first one had never been done before... adds excitement and impulse entries

i'm not disheartened or concerned... won't say never but i think at earliest the next contest would be winter time when it's getting dark at 4pm and there is less distractions and time off work/school, etc... glen

I was almost put off entering by confusion from the two-stage entry process (which as I've said elsewhere meant paying two lots of currency conversion fees), and was also feeling a bit disheartened by not winning the first raffle. But common sense prevailed and I realised about $40 (Aussie dollars) was a small price to pay for a Jem.

I never understood the "double entry" thing [I wasn't paying close enough attention] but it doesn't sound consumer friendly. And I still think "Jemsite Club memberships" where a JEM is given away randomly each month was the better solution to the "needed solution". At least easier to comprehend

pardon the double post, but i'm past my slow season with work and if y'all say it's okay for me to get in on the contest, I'll do so just to get the numbers up.

I'm sure Damo would get in too.

The entry was a little confusing for me, thats why I waited so long to enter. I also wasn't keen on writing an essay. But I would put 25.00 down anytime for a chance to win. Cause if I dont win I'm gonna have to buy one anyway.

I wish the guitar was from Ibanez Rules.
Maybe Rich would make an arrangement with the winner to trade up for one of HIS set-up Jems or UV

While it's flattering to think so, I don't think that would bear out in a poll of non entrants. And spreading the "prize" purchases evenly between the vendors was the only fair way to handle it.
