Re: Win A New JEM7BRMR March 2006 Forum Member Writing Competition #2*
Why stop at $100? Why not $1000 with a 50/50 shot?
IMO "games of chance" are fine as long as the stake is small enough it doesn't hurt the hopeful. $20 is a decent dinner [for me, to some it's 10 meals at Taco Bell], and it sure wouldn't hurt my waistline to skip a few dinners!!! When you get to $100 it starts to become "serious" money.
Then again, if you can find 20-25 people that can burn a C note without thinking twice, then my opinion means nothing, which is usually the case anyway

When I think of spending $100 for a shot to win...I'm thinking more along the lines of a chance to win a Corvette or Boat not a guitar.
So I agree with Rich and his opinion that means nothing. Keep it at $20

Re: Win A New JEM7BRMR March 2006 Forum Member Writing Competition #2*
fair point, it is a little ridiculous, but $100 dollars over here is not a lot of money (cost of living and the relative value of stuff) and i guess it all comes down to ones perception. $100 (roughly 10,000 yen/50 quid) doesn't go far here i can assure you. I'll happily blow 10-20,000 yen on a night out here, but when i was back home 50 quid would have been expected to last me a week of nights out.
A decent dinner for $20 here in tokyo? Not in your wildest dreams. I went out last friday with my wife to a merely resonable restaurant and it set me back 12,000 yen. So $100 dollars for the chance to win a jem? Not gonna worry too much if it's every few months. The only problem is that it would exclude so many people.

Rich, you're being too modest now. You know for a fact that a lot of jemsiters respect your opinions.
The exception is when you're talking hockey or NFL football.

we have 81 entries carlos. we're seriously considering lowering the number of entries to get on with the show here.
Don't worry - nothing will happen without you.

Maybe these pictures from Matt's Music will persuade a few more "essay" participants!
Good luck!

I'd still perfer the UV, a BRMR isn't a guitar you can play at talent shows or anything like that.

If I happen to win (yeah right) I'll get the UV too. But only because I already have (or am going to have a BRMR)

Why not? I really wouldn't like it if people started rubbing their greasy fingers at the guitar, or if they try it maybe it falls. It's never safe in schools anyways, evenpeople who don't play guitar still want to touch it.

I saw
steve vai
play a talent show back in march last year and he did fine with his double-neck BRMR.
