good question. we have 4 weeks on the rules page and if it's not extended a couple of weeks then probably that's a yes... glen

Re: Win A New JEM7BRMR March 2006 Forum Member Writing Competition #2*

I'm not that comfortable with people buying more than one. The idea was to give better odds for one entry...there are lots (i'd say the majority) of entrants who don't have the money to enter more than once...why should their odds be any worse than somebody who's got the means? I'm sure there are some here who could buy the last 41 entries for $1025 and most likely win...they just got a jem for just over $1000. just doesn't seem right.

i do, however, support the rule of being able to enter if you've been a member for 4 weeks as of the actual date of entry, rather than the start date of the contest. That rule was made to stop people from joining with the sole purpose of entering...we were hoping somebody who is a regular forum contributor would win. right?

It's not my decision to make, but these are the things to think about ebfore we start allowing people to enter more than once. And what do i know? I'm not even the Contest Guru anymore. I don't even know why i've been stripped of my title!

Well...now that you put it that way it doesnt seem right.....damn it Kenny

But then again - this thing could go on for a year or worse yet - never be completed. How about an option of reducing the number of entrants??? That way the odds are increased, but all entrants have equal odds.

Re: Win A New JEM7BRMR March 2006 Forum Member Writing Competition #2*

i'd rather not want people buying multiples but we set 60 then 30 days as the "multiple entries" date. last contest people were getting antsy after 3 days! that was to stop complaints after weeks and weeks of people $$$ tied up in a competition stuck in the mud.

if we get some more entries that will be a moot point... glen

ps - did you edit your "profile" kenny recently? not sure why contest guru was gone but it should be back.

if someone bought 10 entries and lost that improved the odds of the other 90 participants significantly. give and take... glen

How about sending a mass Jemsite email to all members? I think we need to talk about the contest more so members who come and go can read discussion about the contest and then enter.

Re: Win A New JEM7BRMR March 2006 Forum Member Writing Competition #2*

here's a possible idea for next contest... if you kept the same entry fee(but maybe all in one payment instead of 2 cos us internationals pay extra conversion fees )
but have a cheaper prize like say an RGA121(fairly majority friendly guitar that most would probs appreciate?)
so the number of entries would decrease, price would stay same. this way comps would go faster= more winners, and because of the decreased entries ppl would feel like they have great odds and would be more inclined to enter, anyone who missed out would get another chance even sooner possibly too

just my little guesswork idea for now anyway
