Not to be a square, but will the winner get a 1099? This is taxable income, I believe.

Also, a huge thanks to kennydoe and Glen and everyone else responsible for putting this together. This is awesome. Even if I don't win, I think it will have been money well spent. I'm just enjoying the communal excitement.

All "gambling" winnings are fully taxable as income, but nobody is required to give you a 1099. The casino doesn't give you one after you win $3000 at the table do they? The income is your responsibility to report.

Maybe in the future you could sell a few more tickets than needed to cover costs and donate the extra to charity. Are there any charities that teach under privledged kids to shred?

BTW, Since we're about 75% in, it's getting harder to find available random numbers. i may start assigning numbers (at random) soon to save myself a little time. It's taking an average of 3-4 tries before i get an open number.
