Hello gents.
Got my rg"550" in last week as yall know. and as most of you know, stock is not an option, at least if the guitar isnt in really good condition. The paint on this thing was chipped all over, and black really isnt my thing anyway... SO.
Neck -> Did a fret level, still workin on the fret dressing/crowning/polishing bits, gonna clean it up, debating seriously on staining the fret board and neck too. Rolled the fret board edges for a nice old school feel too. Ball ended frets, etc. Basically I want this neck to be the balls and if I dont like it, well then I dont like it.
Body -> body is off a 750, not sure how or why... Anyway, the body was beat up a bit. chips everywhere, and as i said earlier, Im not a huge fan of black.
Anyway, picture time. Still many hours of work to do obviously.
Stripping this paint... is the hugest pain the arse EVER. I dont know what ibanez uses for sealer, but its about as thick as cardboard!!!
the color isnt this blue... Im not sure why its picturing like that, its pretty green like the real BSB is, but it isnt that bad.
im gonna burn some more intricate patterns before I seal it. the stain really covered up quite a bit more then I was expecting it to.
anyway, Im gonna get a brushed aluminum pickgaurd to go with it, just to make it more akin to the BSB, and I think it would look cooler anyway.
Thoughts and input welcome!
