I wanted to maybe fix the faded paint on the pickguard especially where the palmute hand have been etc.
How can this be done right?
What colour code is that brown grayish colour?
I am re chroming the dimarzio pickups so i thought a little fixing on the guard will make the guitar new.
I would leave it as-is. Anything I can think of for you to try will either be temporary, or potentially dangerous for the pickguard. (I think the guard would need to chemically etched to securely bond the paint)
Ive done this. Ive bought a 10th a few yrs ago on ebay and some of the black areas were coming off. btw, is yours brown grey? Mine looks black to me. Anyway, I used a pen with a fine tip to fill in the bits. I couldnt find one fine enough to do the stems but for larger areas and for the text it was fine. Anyway, I'll have a look and see what pen I used and take some pics.
Anymods you do will potentially devalue the guitar. I wasnt planning to resell mine as Ive wanted a 10th since 96. I also did some ding repairs on my 10th also.
Cant see the devalueing on fixing dings and ad paint on the missing areas. Mine are grey brownish. Some have black yes.. what serial is yours? Did ibanez cnc maschine run out of paint on the last 400?
anyone got the grey brownish paint codes? or know any internet sites to match the colour with?
