In some of Steve Vai's songs he hits the tremolo arm causing a quick vibrato sound. Whenever I do that on my RGT42DX, I get a ton of resonance. It seems like it is coming from the bridge setup. I was thinking it was the caused bt the springs. Does anyone know of a way to reduce or eliminate this? My guitar has an Edge 3 bridge.
Wrap a little electrical tape around the ends of the springs, rubber tubing, or shoe laces, wrapped up gaffa tape, etc inside the springs, noiseless springs, tissue paper in the trem cavity, there's a number of ways to kill the resonance.
I took some foam pads for a bicycle helmet and stuffed them in there, works great and you could probably get some for free from a local bike shop since helmets usually have extras and shop normally have a drawer full of them
I can take a pic if you want
That looks like a great idea, and I know I have extra foam lying around from one of my helmets. Thanks!
