Dudes,
what does your nickname mean?
I'm talkin about nicks like 7 Dying Trees, LGMT, Pry0531, VWall, Jester700, Vaiworship, Trouble311 and all the others.
I know it's a stupid question but ...just curiosity.
My nickname on this site is because I have a few world land speed records (SCTA) set at the Bonneville Salt Flats.
I currently have 3 race vehicles (Modified Sports, Streamliner [in development] and a Hayabusa motorcycle [over 600 wheel HP]). I am also a consultant for several land speed projects over the world (engineering, safety, concept and aero).
I will be running at SpeedWeek (the 'big show') next August.
I was also on the Travel Channel a couple of months ago in a show called 'worlds wildest roads'.
Check out the movie 'Worlds Fastest Indian', it is a very good representation of what land speed racers are like, and what goes into doing this sort of thing.
mine used to be self explanatory til day after my 40th birthday when I decided to shave my head the first time ever on 6/12/13! I kinda picked it up from Jay and Silent Bob era somehow lol.
vaiking666 is fairly straight forward..lol.vai is the guitar king and i own 666 of the jem 777 series..plus i'm from scottish ,viking ancestry..the GUNN CLAN to be precise.
This has basically been my email and net handle since around 1996?! I don't even remember the first time I used it, but it comes from the fact that I was in the boat business and love to run fast boats. I had a race version of an old Velocity and it had a Mercury 2.5 race engine on it.....hence Fast Merc.
I'm a little embarassed now as I don't think of the origins of my handle until I see a topic like this. In the mid 90s I started spending time in China. I had a fair grasp of mandarin, but people always tried to practice their English on me. In a market in a city called Beihai this half naked guy (wearing only a t-shirt) approached me chanting "cao ni ma" (f..k your mother), I responded in kind with "cao ni ma de lao bi" (...k your mother's old c..t). What I hadn't seen was a cop approaching from behind to arrest the poor unhinged guy, he laughed and repeated the "lao bi" part. It was a small city, I was the only foreigner there and over the months I was there I kept meeting the same cop, everytime he would wave and shout "hello Laobi", usually at the market or in restaurant/teahouse. Got to know him and some of his colleagues quite well and people began calling me "wai laobi" (old foreign c...). Started using it as a handle on the web around that time and it's been with me since.
That's one hell of a story!
Mine is so mundane compared to that... I'm studying computer science, I'm Italian and I work free-lance (when I'm not at Wal-Mart) as a computer tech for a few local companies... <Homer Simpson impression coming> BORING!
Needed to add here, I've changed my name from ItalianPCTech to Meechy.
Never really liked my old handle and my name has been Meechy (pronounced 'Me-she') all my life. Nickname for Michelle.
Thought I should clear that up since the change made this post lack any and all sense.
My initials, which someone once asked if it meant humbucker-single-humbucker. Just coincidence. Hill Smith Hight, I am a male so it's not short for "Hillary" or anything like that. One of the few Southern U.S. gents without two FIRST names (e.g. Billy Bob, Billy Ray, etc.). Instead, I am gifted with three last names! I had no say at the time it was done.......rare, in any case. There was an early governor of Tennessee who had the same first name as I.
My first new car was white with blue racing stripes. My boss at work used to say that at 5pm when the end-of-day whistle blew, he'd see a "blue streak go past his office window" when I left. Hence the name.
