A very convincing tonewood comparison

Taking two guitars set up same way with strings, electronics, picks, and with simple Shure SM57 picking up sound, they are compared on short youtube video:

Does wood affect tone? Or is it negligible and still more due to player? At 3.40 he nails it on the head. At 4:50 you can hear it clean, hopefully. Then with gain, the difference starts to become much smaller at 6:00.

Tonewood important on solidbody?:

My take is yes and no.

Yes: For small amp playing/recording in bedroom, tone wood is a noticeable yet important part of tone, imho. No: But on high volume gigs through big amps, I just hear two basic sounds which are humbucker and single coil. The tonewood is not something that plays into it and the higher volume and something like a Marshall shapes overall guitar tone more in the audience. And then to break it down more, if possible from the stage player, there are the vintage single coils versus something like overwound ones, and there's the vintage PAF humbuckers 7-8K, and hotter sounding ones like Duncan JB or EMG active.

But this (below) is also very interesting (a little foul mouthed ie Scott Grove style):
