I have a couple questions about this:

1) Exactly what is done?

2) Is the difference visible?

Buzz Feiten Tuning System

I have a Washburn N-4 with the system and there is a difference. Very quickly- the nut is moved up and the bridge is perfectly calibrated to some length in relation to the neck. Buzz did a lot of technical calculations to discover the exact measurements. Anyway, the guitar is now tuned to a well-tempered tuning. On most guitars, we find that they are evenly tempered. A well tempered guitar is tuned differently. Some notes are a little flat, some a little sharp. Whereas an evenly tempered guitar is tuned exactly: like in fourths (standard tuning).

The system is very noticable. Chords all over the neck sound... right. Buzz has found the best way to intonate the neck. One of the things that you may notice is that the guitar's voice is somewhat more rounded with the Buzz system. Since normal tuning does not allow for deviations in intonation very well, it has a more aggressive edge to it. The notes are not quite right, but we are used to hearing them that way. The Buzz system rounds out the tone, because notes sound closer to what they should be.

The best thing to do is try one out at a store and see for yourself. You may hear it and love it... or you won't.
