Oops.. Bad impulse bidding...

I've just bid for and won an RG1527 for £210.

I put in a quick, low bid near the end of the auction, assuming I'd be outbid but I won it!

The only thing is, looking more closely at the picture, it really doesn't look like a 1527 at all :? In fact, I have a nasty feeling that it's a 7420.

Here's the link:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3714930689

So have I done something really stupid? What happens if it isn't really a 1527? Can I refuse to pay?

 :? :?

hmmm

hmmm he has had 4 transactions on ebay, 2 of which have been negative giving him a feedback score of 0. I wouldn't trust him  definitely don't pay unitl you have confirmation of whether its a RG1527 or 7420. if it is in fact a 7420 you can refuse to pay because the item does not match the sellers description, hope it gets sorted out ok :?

That's clearly a lo-pro 7 so the guitar is 7620 without a doubt.
Excellent price even if the condition is not that great.

Congrats.

p.s. make sure you collect the guitar as the guy doesn't have a great ebay track - and getting from Slough to Guildford and back will probably cost less than £20 anyway.

Hmm I couldn't work out if it was a lo-pro 7 or a TRS... If it is a lo-pro and therefore a 7620, this could have a happy ending..

Judging by the bridge and the pickup routings, definitely looks like a 7620.

I love how he avoided giving a clear shot of the bridge or pickups, and even the serial number's difficult to read.
Heh I just remembered the pickup routing differences and you're right. Also, going by the specs on Jemsite, the 7620 is the only one offered in black.
So it looks like I might have got a 7620 for £210? :)

Lets just hope he doesn't mess me about...

That is a 7620. The 1527 has the "Prestige" headstock, and if you look at the last picture of the bridge from the side, you can see the knife edge insert on the Lo-Pro Edge bridge. TRS-7 bridges don't have that.

Be very cautious with the transaction. He's 50/50 on his feedback. 8O

There are most definitely black RG7420s out there, in the Australian market at least. Ibanez is quite well known for having different colours in different regions. But yes, the knife edge insert gives that away as a 7620. Hey, it may not be a 1527, but you get better pickups in a 7620, and locking bridge studs.

Right, I've got an email from the seller and he seems "ok". I don't think he's been totally honest in his description though. Basically he says he bought the guitar from a friend without knowing the model number, and looked at the ibanez site to find the nearest thing.

He's sent me a pic of the bridge, and it certainly looks like a Lo Pro Edge (and therefore a 7620)) .. BUT.. It's pretty rusty:

Rusty Lo Pro

Does this just look like a slightly neglected guitar that needs a good clean/setup, or a piece of junk that's been left out in the rain? :?

I'm kind of worried that it'll be like that LNG that looked like it had been stored in a fish tank...

Picked the guitar up last night :D

- It is an RG7620
- It's not in too bad condition, the pictures do look worse
- The seller threw in a gig bag to make up for the crustiness of the guitar
- He also let me take it for £200 instead of £210 as he didn't have the whammy bar.

I played it a little last night and it seems great, but desperately needs a good cleaning and some fresh strings (the 3 high strings were black with dirt).

So it looks like I got bit of a bargain! *phew*
:D

Was that the link to the auction or the rusty bridge pic?

The auction link was straight to ebay, the other was to a jpeg on a server at my old workplace. I reckon you should run adaware or something similar on your pc!
