Figure it this way, if you go for the new RG1570 you get the Edge Pro bridge and an older RG570 would have either an Edge or a Lo-Pro edge, which many people here prefer. But it's entirely your call on whether or not you like the edge pro or not. Some people will avoid the new trems others don't care.
If it is sparkle green, it is most likely early 2000's and has the All Access Neck Joint. So that's good.
However, the newer 1570 has a better construction neck. The continuous neck with volute is a better design than the cost cutting scarf joint on the older RG 570. I don't believe that you will hear a difference in tone but atleast, you would have a more reliable neck assuming that it was built properly in the first place.
Also keep in mind that the 2005 RG1570 has a thicker Prestige neck so its better constructed but isn't the old Wizard profile... having just played one of those necks a few days ago, I'd go for the RG570. In fact I just bought a sparkle green RG570 on evilbay today.
It's a no brainer, the RG570. (Actually an RG517 since it's sour apple but that's neither here nor there.) If that guitar has sat new in that shop that long I gurantee you if you go in with cash in hand you'll get one hell of a deal on it. --Jason
