I don't post too much here on jemsite.com, i'm more into reading and learn.
This post is for to show you a seven string that a luthier made me, I haven't yet, until monday hehehe, so I'm pretty nervous by now.
The guitar is an all mahogany body and neck with sperzel tuners, ebony fingerboard, blue mirror dots and inlays, an H-H configuration with bartolini pickups (4d-01 and 4d-03) (THANK YOU FRANK), a push pull in the tone knob, etc.....
That's translucid black, I love how the mahogany looks, tired to see other types of extra AAAA, I like this one:
They are called Blue mirror, I don't know exactly the material, it's some kind of plastic, very strange, you have other colours like gold, bronze, red, orange and "holoflex":
Nop, those are 4d-01 and 4d-03, a passive choice hehehe, I know the ones that works with active preamps but I prefer to use passive.
Btw, as I know, you can put preamps with passive barts models don't you? they work as a special booster if I'm well informed, I'm not interested at the moment, maybe on a near future....
Frank Falbo was who got those pickups for me, I hope he can see this thread as we were talking about my future (now present) guitar, he's a very nice guy.
I have to say that the splited single coil tones are incredible beautiful, with the neck one you can get very sweet and plenty sounds, it's a very defined tone and the best is that it sounds like a real single coil (yeah it seems to sound stupid but i don't like too much splited sounds), but turn again into humbucker and it's wonderful for soloing.
With the bridge on humbucker mode you get very good and strong rhytmic sounds, a very liquid sound but incredible defined between notes in a full chord with 2, 3 or 4 notes, it doesn't matter, splited it's a ring specially tone, nice for ska and stuff with a big presence of treble.
It sounds very full and equilibrate thanks to a special filter on the tone knob, the mahogany is a very bassy wood and it's necessary (and specially in 7 string guitars).
Nice! Not a big fan of black guitars, but this looks impressive. Nice choice of inlays and pickups.
