Just a rubbish phone picture, but you get the idea. I've just roughly cut the body out so I thought I'd share!! It's mahogany, explorer shaped, 7-string, maple Carvin neck with an ebony board, and I'm gonna get Tim at Bareknuckle pickups to re-wind the single coils to a Sinner bridge and Trilogy suite neck (just about the hottest single coils on the planet). More pics as I get more done!!
If I remember correctly I think it's a gotoh bridge (I bought it a while ago) - it's just like a strat fixed bridge, so each saddles action's adjusted with two little threaded bolts and an allen key.
For some reason the only real fixed bridge I can tolerate is the Tune-o-matic ones, I don't know why but the Strat or other fixed bridge styles feel to weird
. . . . like when you're getting a slushie at Macs and decide for some insane reason to put some of each flavour in. Worst idea ever. (especially when you add in something like sour apple)
I thought about 3 singles, but I never use a middle s/c on it's own, and when I'm playing live I find that I very rarely use the in-between positions either. So I thought I'd go for just the neck and bridge pickups, and I'm just having a volume control with a push-pull pot for the pickup selection (down for bridge, up for neck) - a nice and simple live guitar.
And I've decided to scallop the 'board - that'll be the next job!!
Oh SNAP! That's sweet!
Forget the swirls. That will look sweet natural or in a red or black paint job.
She could use a humbucker....but hey, that's me.
Killer idea! Looking forward to seeing it done.
