(4/1/04) Hoshino USA Loses ANOTHER top guy - CONFIRMED. Perhaps in the near future we can look back to this as the day when Ibanez ignored all warning signs and began it's inevitable collision course towards a huge iceberg. Faster, faster... full steam ahead... the captian of the Titanic (ie. Ibanez) continues it's purge at the top as another guy you don't want to leave Hoshino USA was relieved of duty. It seems Ibanez Japan doesn't like "guitar" guys working in Bensalem, PA and instead is looking for box stuffering bobble-heads who excel at placating stupidity and ignoring said iceberg. Another big, big loss for Ibanez players and fans. Another big win for the dumb acountants & suits in Ibanez Japan who ignore their own company history. Much more of this forthcoming... keep your fingers crossed that miracles do happen and the suits grow a brain before the Titanic sinks :-(
Winter NAMM 2004 - continuously updated info on the forum offical NAMM topic. Ibanez Steve Vai EP7 Euphoria acoustic/electric guitar, new for 2004 will appear at Winter NAMM 2004. Tentative list (not street) price is $1,399.99 + case, made in Korea.

Hoshino USA #1 in Command Moves on - Best of luck to JD: Ibanez and Ibanez players have suffered a loss as Jim Donahue has stepped down from his position as "the guy" at Hoshino USA to fulfill a life-long dream. His tenure during the heyday of Ibanez in the USA was unprecidented and will be missed by many. Best of luck to JD. Post your comments & best wishes here
I was with Ibanez for 18 years and I learned so many things. I also feel I contributed to many of the designs and improvements of the products. However I always had a dream of having a small shop and producing my own guitars and since I am not getting any younger it was time for me to move on. I will say that my stress level has been greatly reduced but this is with any job. I still play Ibanez and I have nothing against Hoshino or Ibanez, I still feel they make the best guitars. However with two boys I want to be able to leave them something for the future that they can say they own. It will take a while to get out on my own, but that is life. I have a plan to go back to school for engineering and spend more time with my family and writing books. My book guitars, design production and repair is now available in paper back from Booksurge.com also I have the Ebook available for immediate download. You can see more information on it at Noahjames Guitars.

JEM77FP re-release/retirement and Ibanez Summer NAMM 2003 showings are discussed here on the forum. The 2003 JEM77FP will be announced as limited availability again in the USA as per the same specs since 1988 except for the 2003 Edge Pro. List price is a very fair $2199 w/o case. These are not "leftovers" obviously since the EdgePro does not fit the pre-2002 bodies, just the final production pieces of a model that has not been imported to the USA for a while. Tentatively, each JEM77FP is slated to include a Steve Vai signed backplate. IMHO it would be a cool treat to write a bit more ala the LNGs writings such as "Floral 2003... the end - Steve Vai" or whatever. The totals being imported are as follows: 108 FPs thru Hoshino USA and 20-30 thru Chesbro. Dubbed as the 15th anniversary of the JEM77FP (1988-2003) this marks the final production of this storied model, as the JEM77FP production and distribution is being discontinued in all markets worldwide.

new gear, including a hardtail RG
6-string. The RG421 features a Wizard-II neck with bound
fretboard, ismade in Japan (not Korea like most RG4xx guitars) and comes
in Black (BK) or Royal Blue (RB). See ibanez.com

RG2027x 7-string Final Notice - The reason for the cancellation is
very disappointing... poor sales. Editorial
here. Final inventory of this discontinued guitar remains at Hoshino USA,
ready to order at any Ibanez dealer. List price is $1699, with a street price
much lower (typical Ibanez dealer discounts apply). The RG2027x is a steal and
going, going, gone forever. For comparison the new Petrucci EB/MM JP7 w/ Piezo
bridge lists for $2200. Forget the "endorser" factor and buy an RG2027x
with Double Edge Piezo bridge before they are all gone. No replacement model
is available at this time in the USA. (7.26.2001)

Zone tours! [4/24/2001]

Ibanez 2K1 Previews - More details and firm pricing at Winter NAMM (Jan. 18-21, 2001). JEM555 is dead and buried in 2K1. Finally Ibanez has listened. No new JEM will be announced that weekend. The JEM7VWH, JEM7DBK and UV777BK features and price will remain the same for 2001. The K7 Korn Signature models ($1799.99 list) features a "Ubar Tremolo" (to palm the bridge sharp), Dimarzio PAF7's, mahogany body, 5-piece maple bubinga neck and comes in Grey or Blue but priced well above the RG7620. Sadly, the RG7620 joins the 7621 in retirement. Thank the low-end 7s for cutting into these sales. There should be no problem getting an RG7620 from a dealer thru mid-2001 since stock is very good. Finally Ibanez will introduce a line of Baritone 27" scale "XL" guitars. These include the RG1077XL Prestige model 7-string, w/ Dimarzio Custom 7 pickups (aka the RG7620 pickups renamed) RG7420XL 7-string and the RG470XL six string. Hopefully the last two will not include the TRS. [1/1/2001]

Steve Vai Ultra Zone Jem: Don't ask about this one. It was a one of a kind
custom "Ultra Zone JEM" that resembles the cover guitar from the CD.
It was ugly with a capital UGLY. Built in the Hoshino USA factory in Bensalem,
PA by a builders and given to Steve. Vai then donated it to Jemfest2K, where
it was auctioned off. Since then it was dragged to hell and back by assholes
with no respect for other humans. The axe is bad karma. [3.1.2001]

JEM2KDNA April Fools 2K Prank: Production has begun on these models w/ Darren
in Japan. Due to customer and dealer demand, Ibanez has announced that it will
double the allocated production of the DNA swirls and lower the list price.
Price drop could go down by 25% depending final production counts! (4/1/2000)
- sorry folks but this amazing guitar will be very limited (still pegged
at 300) and very pricy. They are being swirled this week however. You should
have been wise to the prank as when does Ibanez listen to "customer"
demand. Just kidding :-)
A Moment of Silence: for the beloved father of Darren Johansen (ATD / Darren Michaels Inc.) the artist behind our beloved Ibanez Multicolor guitars.
My dad passed away on Friday morning (2/25/00) at about three am I wanted to thank all the guys and ladies out there for there support and prayers. I cannot begin to tell you how much that meant to me and my family. Mostly all of my family has come to the site and checked out your kind words and also thanks all of you. My dad was very excited for me about this project and would have wanted me to put my very best foot forward on it. During this project many feeling will come up but most of them will be of joy that the relationship that my dad and I had was of friendship and support through thick and thin. Once again I must thank each and every one of you from deep in my heart, always follow your dreams live each day as if it was your last. Let everyone know how much they mean to you, god bless you and keep rockin - Darren Johansen

Other News From NAMM: View many photos
here of the JEM, JS "Crystal Planet" and more Ibanez
guitars courtesy of Rich Harris. Many were "expecting" a UV10th
anniversary type guitar, which was not shown and not scheduled. Maybe
Summer NAMM?
Double Edge Models for 2000: The exciting Ibanez news from NAMM will be three new Double Edge models. These have the new Double Edge tremolo which features the LR Baggs piezo pickup system built into the tremolo. You can switch between the electric and piezo pickups, but you can not have both running simultaneously. The 3 new models are as follows: S2020XAV - S body 6-string ($1599 list); RG2027XVV - RG body 7-string ($1699 list) ; RG2020XTB -RG body 6-string ($1499 list).
RG 7-strings for 2000: It's official, the RG7621 is discontinued. The RG7421 replaces the RG7621. Thankfully, the RG7620 will remain available (contrary to early reports). Cost will be unchanged and will available only in Gray Nickel (GN). Another new model, the dreaded RG7420 will also be available with TRS7 tremolo. That models seems relegated to the hall of shame already.

Your Prayers & Thoughts Needed: Sad news from Darren Johansen
(ATD / Darren Michaels Inc.) the artist behind our beloved Ibanez Multicolor
guitars:
My dad has been put into the hospital yesterday after a real long bout with cancer and things dont look good for him right now he had stopped breathing for about ten minutes yesterday morning and has been placed on a respirator and has not regained conciseness yet. The doctors have said that they don't think he will make it so with that in mind this new project will be dedicated to my dad Arthur Johansen and his heart that he has instilled in me to go forward with my dreams and that my ideas have always been worthy of creation. To all the jemsters out there follow your dreams each and every day and please offer any prayers possible for him thank you all for your support and dedication to this project god bless. - Darren Johansen

Rumor #1: JEM77FPs with All Access Neck? - bad news. This one is
false. Hoshino USA denies all reports of this and states on the record
that the Floral specs have not and will not change. Do not expect the Floral
to ever be made with an AANJ. [8.24.99]
Rumor #2: Ibanez Quality Control Problem? - worse news if this turns out to be true. First hand reports indicate that Hoshino is letting out UV777BK (and other) guitars that are unfit for distribution to customers. To me this is disturbing & unacceptable if proven to be true. Problems reported range from minor pickguard misallignment to the point where it actually interferes with and touches the tremolo. More notable problems are reported where the tremolo posts are not properly positioned or alligned. This would render the guitar a "lemon". Read Hoshino's comments below which squash the rumor in that customers are not vocalizing to Ibanez such problems if they arise. Please contact Ibanez if you are having troubles with your UV777BK or other new Ibanez guitar. Update An official response from Hoshino USA follows: Despite the number of posts reporting increased defects and poor quality on the Universe UV777BK model, we (Hoshino USA) have had exactly THREE of these instruments returned to us since October of 1998. None of them were returned for the same thing; in fact, one was for a broken pickguard and another was because the customer insisted on a "factory fresh" setup. [9.1.99]
Rumor #3. Floral not Y2K? Totally unsubstantiated but grumblings persist that the Floral will be gracefully retired. Does this mean used Florals will soon be Romanoffed? As they say... get them new while you still can. [9.7.99]

Specially-designed 7-string pickups installed at the factory (vs being installed here); hotter output than both the RG7621's and AX7521's pickups, and 2. Different saddles than the RG7621 - the same ones as the AX7521. The pickups are where the real cost savings comes from.

Please offer a moment of silence for the two Hoshino USA employees who recently
lost their lives in a tragic accident. Our condolences, thoughts and prayers
are offered to their surviving friends and family. Anyone wishing to pay respects
can post a brief
note here
Jim McCloskey explains:
Last Thursday (3/18/99), we lost two employees in an explosion. It occurred in their practice space around 7pm. John Hodges, one of our top repairmen and a good friend of mine for about four years, died instantly. John was 32 and recently engaged. Jason Insana, 22, suffered 3rd degree burns over 90% of his body. He died in the hospital later that night. Jason was recently married, and is survived by his 18-year old wife and two children. As you can imagine, it's been pretty sedate around here for the last week. We closed the office down on Tuesday so the entire company could attend the services.

Geoffrey Sebastian reports the following:
"I was at guitar Center and a guy working there told me that the Guitar Center chain had ordered 16 of the Jem 90s. I thought he was full of it but he went to the back and got one that had just come in yesterday (3/18/98). It is a pretty stunning guitar. It definitely doesn't look like any other Jem. The color combinations work a lot better than I thought they would. It will not be one that everyone will agree is beautiful on first sight (Jem 10th) but I think it will definitely be a unique addition to the Jem line. The color is more icy blue than greenish but definitely has a light greenish tint. The fretboard looks very tasteful and the two dots were very nice abalone on the one I saw. The hardware was also very well polished and it played great right out of the box. The case was nothing special, black tolex with the Vai certificate inside."
The JEM90HAM (Hoshino 90th Anniversary Model) is coming to the USA as announced here weeks ago. Note orders will only be taken from Ibanez dealers through February 1998. According to Ibanez "The 90th Anniversary models (JEM, JS, PGM and JPM models) are limited time-wise, not quantity-wise. What I mean is that we will make however many guitars that we have orders for by the end of February, so demand will determine how "limited" these things are.
The confirmed price, after NAMM is $2999.99 + $169.99 for the JEM case. Ibanez dealer memos apparently have a typo of sorts in their dealer packet. To clarify pricing, our friend at Hoshino Jim McCloskey states:
"Glen, Suggested list price and list price are the same thing. However, this memo is wrong, and the list is $2999.99US for the JEM90. Some of the other models, however, are $2499.99US, so I'd assume this memo just has a typo. Our computers here say $2999.99, and that's that. ;) -Jim
Remember that reputible Ibanez dealers typically discount 30-40% off the LIST price of Ibanez guitars. Note From NAMM. Adam says that the NAMM display JEM90 "was the one Vai Played, It felt great.. it was very nice and buttery". Adam Believes this is the same JEM90 that Vai played over in Japan back in October during their 90th birthday celebration. The exact look of the production models are unknown!
JEM90HAM orders are now closed. As of 3/1/98 Ibanez dealers cannot order 90th Anniversary model guitars. Availability is limited to customers who preordered and dealers who chose to order them for inventory. As of 2/14/98 the JEM90HAM is now shipping to customers in Japan. Hopefully the US models will ship soon.

Ibanez RG-7621 Fixed Bridge 7-string to be Announced at NAMM

7-stringers looking for a more affordable guitar can thank Ibanez. This one is Japanese made like it's RG-7620 sibling and has a fixed bridge. List price $999 which is $300 cheaper than the RG-7620 ($1299 list) so it will be very affordable!!! Street prices should easily hit $625 w/o case. Check ibanez.com after NAMM for details and specs. It will be available in two colors: black or white. DO NOT e-mail Ibanez about this guitar prior to it's announcement.

Buzz Feiton Intonation/Tuning System - No Plans by Ibanez for Incorporation
Many of you are probably aware of the Buzz Feiton tempered tuning system that Vai promoted on www.vai.com earlier this year. The first thing I thought was "will this be implemented on next year's or future JEM guitars"? For those unaware of the system, the Buzz Feiton intonation mod involves moving the nut slightly closer to the bridge and adjusting the intonation slightly so the guitar is more in tune with itself. It is controversial because it essentially says the standard Guitar tuning/intonation methods are slightly wrong.
Currently Tom Anderson is including it all their new guitars and in addition the system is endorsed by Ibanez endorsers Steve Vai & Frank Gambale. I questioned Ibanez recently "if Ibanez is licensing or using the Buzz Feiton tuning system for JEM (or other Ibanez signature) guitars?" The ever accommodating Jim McCloskey of Hoshino USA officially replied "At this time, we have no plans to incorporate this system on our [Ibanez] guitars".
This was no big surprise as in addition to the controversial nature of the system, Buzz is charging a licensing fee (according to various reports $25-35 per guitar) to include the modification. Currently the modification can be performed only by authorized Buzz Feiton repairmen. Obviously these fees become enormous when added up over large scale production for a questionable system.

Epic Press Release for Merry Axemas

MERRY AXEMAS - A GUITAR CHRISTMAS
Merry Axemas - A Guitar Christmas features eleven of today's most popular guitarists brought together to present listeners with their individual renditions of holiday standards. The album was conceived by Steve Vai and coordinated by Vai and legendary A & R guru John Kalodner.
"I would never have time to complete an entire album like this myself," says Vai. "And the guitar, being the most versatile instrument in the world, sounds great playing these songs. I had a list of probably 150 great players or more, and it was so hard to choose who to use. There's so many fine guitarists, this could have been a four-CD set. When you approach players with this premise, their ears just perk right up."
All of the artists involved with this project bring their unique styles and perspectives to Merry Axemas. Never before have songs such as "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer", "Amazing Grace" and "Blue Christmas" been recorded in such an energy-infused fashion.
Merry Axemas - A Guitar Christmas features a variety of musical forms, ranging from the big-band stylings of the Brian Setzer Orchestra to Eric Johnson's simple acoustic rendering of "The First Nowell", which he makes all his own.
Each player on Merry Axemas was asked to choose a song from a long list of holiday classics and then given free reign to personalize the song. The resulting 11-track CD exceeded the hopes and expectations of all involved.
Tracks are as follows:
Kenny Wayne Shepherd - Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Eric Johnson - The First Nowell Jeff Beck - Amazing Grace Brian Setzer Orchestra - Jingle Bells Joe Satriani - Silent Night/Holy Night Jam Steve Morse - Joy to the World Steve Vai - Christmas Time is Here Joe Perry - Blue Christmas Alex Lifeson - The Little Drummer Boy Richie Sambora - Cantique De Noel (O' Holy Night) Hotei - Happy Xmas (War is Over)
Steve Vai's cover of Christmas Time is Here is an especially novel tribute to the tune made popular in Charles Schulz's Peanuts Christmas specials. Listening to this track, even in October, makes it truly seem that Christmas is here, and Steve's gift in the form of this song is just what you asked for.
Merry Axemas - A Guitar Christmas was released by Epic Records on Tuesday, October 14. Don't wait until December 25 to put your hands and ears to this all-year-round gem. This is a must for anyone who enjoys great guitar music. Who says spending the holidays with the family can't rock?
Hoshino Gakki 90th Anniversary Celebration - Musical Instruments Fair Japan
Ibanez' parent company celebrated it's 90th anniversary with a private party featuring guitarists Steve Vai and Paul Gilbert. The Event was held in Tokyo October 24, 1997. Overseas JEM/Vai fan Kumiko Kamiya was fortunate enough to attend the party and "Musical Instruments Fair" and sent over these three pictures. If you have any further info please e-mail.
90th Model Announcement - Vai Promo - Vai's Guitar
The JEM90 looks very similar to the J-custom "RG-METAL-1" which can be seen on Ibanez' Site. Time will tell what happens with this model in the USA if anything. Jim McCloskey of Hoshino USA informs us "We have NO info about the guitar. None. If you hadn't sent us pictures, we wouldn't even know what it looked like. I imagine we'll be showing it at NAMM, but I cannot say anything else. We just don't know".
1997 JEM77FP Floral Pattern Missing All-Access-Neck
In a surprise turn or events the '97 JEM77FPs do not have the AANJ. This is contrary to published literature & Ibanez info which stated the 1997 Floral would have the All-Access Neck Joint as per the JEM7VWH and JEM7BSB. This is disappointing and thus makes the 1997 Floral a poor candidate to purchase. Many, many Florals are available used at great prices and in excellent condition.
JEM7VWH Introduction
First introduced as 1993 model, not '94 as indicated in the 1997 Ibanez catalog and various online sources.
JEM10 Final Production Count at 852 Worldwide
Ibanez finally stopped at 852. According to Jim McCloskey at Hoshino "two went to Steve. #1 is at Hoshino USA, #2 is at Roland/Meinl in Germany. Whereabouts of #777 is unknown. #3, 5, 7, and 9 went for sale in the US market. After that, I have no info on which # went where." I do know where #128 & #779 went ;->

JEM777LNG Production Year Correction
The Ibanez JEM guitars (and RG siblings) were announced at Summer NAMM 1987. The official year of production for the JEM777LNG was 1987. They were available mid-1987 and throughout 1988. It has been erroneously reported online that the LNG was a '86 model. If you're wondering why the JEM10 was a 1996 model it's because '86 was when Ibanez collaborated with Vai on the JEM. Jim McCloskey as Hoshino USA has confirmed this. Interestingly Ibanez delivered a "Christmas Present" to Steve 12/86 in form of a customized Ibanez Maxxass guitar... the guitar that won Ibanez the Vai contract. Notice how the current RG550 is listed on Ibanez' site as a 10th year reissue! Much more info to come in the "History of JEMs" section forthcoming.
Fire Garden TAB Book due in November
Adam has confirmed from Hal Leonard Publishing that the Fire Garden TAB book will be available in November. Hopefully it will contains lots of extra pictures and information like the PAW book.

Ken Burtch's 7-String Instrumental CD Available
Many of you know Ken Burtch from his excellent 7th Heaven Site. Some of you did not know that he recorded a 5 song instrumental CD featuring the Universe guitar. Ken has sent me a prerelease, pre mastered version on cassette and I am very impressed with it. My advice is that you order yours when it's available because it is excellent and costs only $6.50 shipped to your door ($8.50 outside the USA). For full details on the CD, including early feedback and mailing info go here:

More JEM Model Name Corrections
Having studied the old Ibanez Catalogs and advertisements (more soon in the Downloads / Archive section) it appears that a few JEM Models have been labeled incorrectly here and on other sites online. Three models are named differently:
Feedback & Musicians Wanted for a JEM/UV Player Jam CD
Eric Sands has proposed the idea to create a CD featuring music by players of JEM & Universe guitars. The idea is to get about six guitarists each recording two songs. Since the cost of the CD can be split by each of the participants, it is an attractive way to publish a few of your songs. It is equally as attractive to listeners, since it can cover a wide variety of musical styles available at a great price. For more details see the URL below:
Let's round up moral support for the sister of Larry M, fellow JEM/UV brethren. Lori Lynn Menshouse is competing as Miss Kentucky in The Miss America Pageant! Lori is an accomplished pianist having played for 17 or so years and will be playing "Revolutionary Etude" by Chopin, a difficult, technical piece! Please tune in to the Pageant on 9/13/97 at 9pm EST on ABC. Larry says "I haven't figured the connection to JEM/UVs yet, but give me time."
JEM Fossil Unearthed - Overseas JEM777VSK found!
An previously uncharted JEM model has surfaced recently and the details are now in. The model number of the guitar is JEM777VSK.
The JEM777VSK is a Pink JEM with rosewood fretboard and a pink vine inlay. This model JEM has not appeared in US catalogs and possibly was never intended for sale in the USA. When first contacted about the guitar Ibanez initially had no information. Only after several visitors and a lucky overseas owner submitted more info about the guitar was it unearthed. According to Ibanez "We stopped shipping this model to the US because the pink paint would often change colors." Firm production numbers are unknown as are model years. Ibanez can only verify that "it was introduced with the JEM777VDY and quickly discontinued", which puts it as an '89 model. One overseas owner of a JEM777VSK says it's serial number indicates an 1989 model so these were probably made in '89 only.
The guitar looks similar to the familiar JEM777SK, with the following exceptions: VSK has a rosewood fretboard with pink vines, SK has maple fretboard with pyramid inlays, VSK vine model has black paint detailing the lion's claw and headstock logo, whereas the SK pyramid model used green paint for that. Knobs, pickup colors, etc. are the same.
I will keep you posted as further information and pictures are available. Many questions remain unanswered such as if AMS bought out the remainder of stock from Ibanez sometime in '90 for sale in their '91 spring catalog. Special thanks to Ko for submitting the AMS catalog and initial info.
JEM777SK - Shocking Pink With Pyramids Name Correction
The official model name for the Pink JEM with pyramid inlays is JEM777SK, not JEM777SP as previously thought. The SK designation makes no sense but this is straight from Ibanez. If you see reference to a JEM777SP on this Site please forgive me ;-)
Herc Fede's Custom Shop of Multicolor Wonders
My baby has returned... Herc has just swirled my JEM777DY (along with two other guys' JEM/UVs online). It looks great! It is done in a bright pattern along the lines of the PAW cover guitar's flavor (pink, green, burnt umber & yellow). Pricing is about $100-250 cheaper than About Time Designs depending on the number of colors used and if you do the paint removal prior to sending the body. If you're looking for a swirl paint job I recommend his services. His on-line info is located in this Site's "Links" page.
JEM77PMC Owners Club Founded
To further search for every Purple Multicolor JEM, Dave Weiner has founded the JEM77PMC Owners Club. Here is Dave's announcement of the PMC Owners Club:
I have a goal to find every owner of a PMC. People should be honored to own one of these guitars as they are the rarest Jems of all. There are 271 (including myself) of you out there and I am simply trying to find you all to build a registry of sorts. If you own a PMC, please consider registering yours in the Jem77PMC Owner's Club. It will not cost anything. All you have to do is e-mail me with your full name, serial # of your PMC and its condition. Also, if possible, a picture. Either over e-mail (if you have a gif or jpg) or USmail. This will all be put onto an Internet site as the owners are found. (Site to be announced.) This is just for fun and interest. Thank you very much.
I support Dave's efforts fully, so I will promote the Club and if necessary, dedicate space on this Site to further these efforts. All JEM77PMC owners are encouraged to participate. PMC owners, here's what you have to do.

Summer NAMM Begins... New Guitar roll out!
Summer NAMM was held on July 11-13. New guitars of interest include the:
Ibanez has announced a new Universe guitar at Summer NAMM. The new Universe marks the return back to the quality trademark Vai pyramid necks that have been abandoned since 1993.
UV777BK Details:
BUT... $$$$ talks and you know what walks folks. Here is your chance to buy a state of the art brand new Universe. I hope you do not underestimate this as it may be your last chance. If this model gets a poor reception in the marketplace (like EVERY other UV model has), expect the model to be pulled quick, then... expect a few saleman/resellers to horde them & price gouge for years. Please don't let this happen. Preorder & buy the new UV before you consider overpaying for a used one that the seller likely paid clearance rack prices for. The fate of the Universe series gravely depends on it.
For all you private & (un)professional resellers trying to rip-off the JEM/UV community what can 'ya say now! Who's gonna buy these expensive items you overpaid for... not many want to buy yesterday's newspapers at double the price. Call it a hunch, but I don't think many will pay $1500-2000 for an 8 year old UV when they can buy a BETTER, COOLER one today for less.
Hey Stevie... you said you'd play 'em again ;-> Oh yeah... mine's on preorder!
1996 G3 Tour Laserdisc released 6/24/97
Yes!!! The G3 LD has arrived as scheduled. The Laserdisc is two sided, CLV, although I would have preferred CAV for perfect stills & slo-mo! It looks and sounds terrific. VHS owners... sorry but the LD is the best way to relive G3 '96. For those unfamiliar with the niche LD market, LD's have CD's PCM 16-bit audio (vs VHS' FM audio) and double the video resolution of VHS! A review will be in the G3 Tour Info page soon.
G3 Cover for Guitar Magazine August issue
