ADA MP1 ! He shows the whole rig in the video(as Blackspy said) and didn't stop using them till mid to late 90,s,this video is 1989 if i remember correctly.
Yeah, you can use the MP-1 into the power section of an amp bypassing the amps pre. Though I think that was more often used that way because of the lack of quality tube power amps back in the day when they first became popular. Either that, or it was just easier if you had a tube amp kicking around.
I use mine with an ADA power amp and it sounds great. You can get a pile of hot rodded Marshall tone out of it. It was built to sound like that, but of course it has its own sound really. Nothing is a vintage Marshall but a vintage Marshall. The MP-1 is a slightly different beast. Not better or worse, just different.
I have an MP-1 and a Peavey Classic 120 mono power amp (all rack stuff) and it sounds awesome! And I once broke an Ibanez guitar (neck joint cracked when I dropped it) because I couldn't keep up with Pablo).
