What do you think is the best wah on the market for heavy metal?
I currently am using a Morley Bad Horsie and find the sweep far too subtle for when it comes to playing metal. I'm looking for a really smooth sweep, nothing too harsh or muddy .. looking for that elusive petrucci wah tone.
why don't you just buy the one that John Petrucci uses then? He uses a rackmount Crybaby wah. If you can't afford one of those a Crybaby 535Q is a fantastic sounding wah with a pot to change the range of sweep and a Q to adjust the intesity of the sweep.
I LOVE my Bad Horsie, but my next in line is definitly the 535Q. Get that one dude, dont even listen to anyone else haha. Its any wah you want it to be.
smitty
If you dig JP's wah tone, your best bet would be the Dunlop 2SR, 1SR, CFH, or 535Q.
I owned the 1SR while also owning the 535Q (original and has NEVER left my board while tons of other wahs have) and they were actually pretty close in tone.
I'm currently on the DB Crybaby From Hell and I love it. You can coax many different voicings from it plus it's got a nice little gain boost to really kick it into high gear. I dig the camo paint as well.
I really love the switchless design on the Bad Horsie, i'd really miss that if i went to Dunlop e.t.c., anyone got opinions on the Morley tremonti? what's the sweep like on it and what's it like compared to a bad horsie?
What I dislike about the Bad Horsie, is that tone wise, it isn't vocal sounding but quite mechanical. Yes, even in a metal context. The switchless design rocks though... but the buffer irked me.
