Complaining about... banner ads

I now see pretty annoying ads in post. Not a cool move at all.

Who is Peer 39?

If they're added to help keep jemsite in the black, then so be it. There's no rule that says you have to click or even read the musicians friend ads. Just scroll on down to the next post.

Just a test: www.***************.com

He he! The bad word filter still removes the ad sponsor when you type it as one word.

Re: Forum problems, glitches, etc. POST HERE ONLY PLEASE

Hmmm..... Now even when signed in we're forced to be a marketing tool! Not to mention the "quick links" menu doesn't work.

Funny though the new owners were mighty prompt in informing me my "site contributor" status was coming due and.....

Well..... just do us both a favor and place me on your "inactive username" list. This is my formal request to be removed from the active member list.

I'll surely miss some of the great people here, but I'll bet I'll see them on other forums too.

I don't think this new approach to using this site as a "ad agency" and it's subscribers as a marketing tool wasn't something Glen intended when he started Jemsite! Nor do I believe he's responsible for the current "trends" the new owners are imposing on the members.

Sure... subscriber-ship is up along with the costs of keeping the site running. But I'm also sure many of the new subscribers are becoming "site contributors" also.

Either way it all stinks of corporate greed and is one more reason I choose to move on!

So like CosmicDebris said..... "Not a cool move at all" on the new site owners behalf..... so now it's my choice.... to move on!

Kudu's to the new owners..... keep up the "great" work! Maybe your fresh new approach will work wonders with the other membership too!

I wonder just how long this post stays up.....

See ya'll down the road and let's all keep pickin and a grinnin!

I'm not going anywhere, ads or no ads. I've put up with you guys for this long; there's no way I'm gonna move on due to a stinkin' adbot.

Buck up you sissies. We're jemsite men for godsakes!

I honestly don't know what you are complaining about. once I log in all I see is a small google add bar at the top and a small bookmarks bar at the buttom. Is that so intrusive?
I'm using IE7 on a win2003 server sp2 but I don't think that is relevant.

Well your lucky if that is all you see. I see an ad disguised as a post right after the first post of each thread. That, I think, is what people are upset about.

You know, even Harmony Central, which is owned by MF, doesn't have ads like this.

That wouldnt be so bad, but its on every page of every thread. Seriously I think most of us know where to find what we are looking for when we are going to buy something. That being said Musician's Friend is selling USA Strats from $999.99.

Sorry guys, nothing over here. I never saw anything that looks like toshiros print screen.
As for the second post, all I get is cosmics post. No adds, no nothing.
Maybe you should all move to Israel to get a cleaner jemsite

Both sevenstring.org and even harmony-central.com can run forums without any type of ads in the posts themselves. I will not pay to keep from seeing ads in the forum, I'll go elsewhere.

Cool Re: Forum problems, glitches, etc. POST HERE ONLY PLEASE

I think my contributer membership just expired. I am seeing ads like crazy. I thought the first one was a legitimate post, until I started reading it. Very annoying. I don't know if it is enough to make me leave Jemsite, but I really don't like it. It's not like anyone is actually going to buy from those ads anyway.
