jemsite.com on mobile! Visualization probs...

Hey guys,

when I'm traveling around I'm used to surf in the Internet via my mobile phone. I've got visualization problems with this forum on my recently purchased iPhone. It has got the Safari Browser on it, usually I don't have problems with bulletin boards, but this Forum looks horrible on it! No structure at all. Have a look:

And this is how other Forum look on my mobile that use the bulletin thingy:

Is it fixable without doing a bigger job?

Grüße
Andreas (:

I think for stuff like mobile phones the site just adjusts to whatever way you're viewing it, as in horizontal or vertically. I know on my Voyager when I view stuff on the outer screen with it vertically things look decent (not great but not terrible) and then when I flip it open its a lot more organized. With the iPhone you may just have to hold it sideways.

Re: jemsite.com on mobile! Visualization probs...

jemsite used to have "Mobile Alabama" skin for vBulletin. i see it admin panel but not sure if it's working or enabled.. it was for WEP phones. It looks like your phone is going into that mode however, when it shouldn't.

I'll have someone check that.

On my Motorola Q9c (windows mobile 6.1) using Opera Mini (highly recommended browser BTW) in "mobile view" mode the site/forum looks great. No horizontal scrolling needed and all links clickable. In regular view it looks just like the other screenshots

In safari is there a way to force sites to NOT go to mobile view? ... glen

Re: jemsite.com on mobile! Visualization probs...

i don't have access to change this - i did send the info over to those who do - but it looks like i added a mod a few years ago to auto detect WEP. Safari (not surprisingly) isn't smart enough to render the actual webpage. Neither is IE mobile.

Once they pull this code it will eliminate WEP for the most part... glen

Code:
// BROWSER DETECT

  $browsers = array(
      "Windows CE",
      "WebTV",
      "AvantGo",
      "Blazer",
      "PalmOS",
      "lynx",
      "Go.Web",
      "Elaine",
      "ProxiNet",
      "ChaiFarer",
      "Digital Paths",
      "UP.Browser",
      "Mazingo",
      "Mobile",
      "T68",
      "Syncalot",
      "NetFront",
      "Danger",
      "Symbian",
      "Nokia",
      "Xiino",
      "AU-MIC",
      "EPOC",
      "BlackBerry",
      "Wireless",
      "Handheld"
      );

Hey Glen,

thanks for the reply and your effort. Hmmmmm... unfortunately there's no way to do that! (Or I don't see) Well, it would be great if these guys - whoever - could fix it 'cause surfing on jemsite via iPhone isn't really fun ATM.

My wife has the iPhone from AT&T and the Jemsite looks perfect. How do you have T-Mobile on an iPhone?

Really?? Do your wife have the newest iPhone, the 3G? Or is it the first/older iPhone version? Maybe that's the clue for that, don't know. The user michblanch has the same issues. It would make me wonder if this issue is depending upon the network operator. Here in Germany T-Mobile is officially the contractual partner of Apple/iPhone.

Yep it looks like ass. I think it's because there is no Flash, or is it Java. One of the two.
