clear coat advice

i am trying to make a kirk hammett mummy guitar, i am using a kh 202
i plan on putting the decals on, then clear coating over that.
my question is how is the clear going to effect the black finish
thats already on there. i probobly wont do all the black , just
where the decal meets the edge so it will blend, will this work?
i have never done anything like this before, so i am trying to
figure what the easiest way would be. i would appreciate any advice
thank you

Re: clear coat advice

You should post this in the mods and tech section for better exposure. If you're going to clearcoat, which you should do, you need to clear the whole guitar for best results. What you should do, is scuff up the whole body with a green scrubbie, then repaint the whole body black. Then apply decal and clear the thing.
