EMGs in an RGA121?

Just got an RGA121 Prestige Natural finish. I've seen a lot of threads about installing EMGs but can't find any with links and pictures. Got a couple questions for you all who have already done what I am doing.

1. How did you deal with the 5 way switch.

2. How do you adjust the height of the pickups using foam rather than screws?

3. Where did you put the battery?

4. Do you have pix/wiring diagrams?

Thanks for any help!

Re: EMGs in an RGA121?

They won't fit. The EMG pickups are too square and the route for the pickups in the RGA is too round. You will have to either sand/round off the edges of the EMG or take a dremel tool and open up the route for the pickup on the RGA.. or both.

I'm pissed because I bought EMG 85/60 just for my RGA, and they wouldn't fit.

I used to have them in my RGA321. I sanded the corners of the EMGs. Much better to do that then to modify the body.

Re: EMGs in an RGA121?

Very cool, that helps a lot. Do you know if the output jack that cones with the 121 stock can be used or do I need to buy a new one.

Also, the pickups I'm installing I currently have in my SG, but the don't sound very good, not very hot, can't hit squeels, no crunch. Is that because it's sn SG or could my pickups be bad? Replaced the battery and strings and still just nothing compared to my EC-1000 or even the RGA121 with the stock humbuckers..

You can use the stock input jack. I also bought a 3 way switch to replace the 5 way. Sound like your SG has a wiring issue.

Does anyone have pix of how to wire the stock barrel style output jack?
