Re: has any1 owned an esp m-2

I just got an 2008 m2 maple duncans.
Its great feels like a prestige but has a more percussive tone .
Its definetly a shredder.

Re: has any1 owned an esp m-2

I've tried out an M-2 but personally, the price point is just too high for my tastes. For me, a decent Prestige (RG2550Z or even the little more expensive 3250) is a far better investment overall. I'm even considering an RGA prestige just so I can have an ibby with the same duncans as the m-2, because it would be cheaper in the long run.

m-2s are nice if you have the cash or want to invest in one. I'm not a fan of the duncan pups personally but if i want to have the exact same sound as Timo Tolkki when he was with Stratovarius, I need that guitar (his custom ESPs were all based on the m-2). The neck is fast and smooth and can shred like any shredder can, but the pickups are medium output so you can really go nuts with effects (even with just an OD like the tube screamer, it really picks up the sound and goes with it). I think the equivalent Dimarzio pup would be like a PAF Joe.

My only real problem with the m-2 is the price really. I'm not willing to spend that kind of money when I can get something cheaper and just as good, if not better.

Re: has any1 owned an esp m-2

I've had one for a couple of years and I absolutely love it. It's the bolt-on neck with rosewood board and EMG pickups. It was new, but had been hanging in the shop for a while so it had some minor dings and what not. I beat the sales guy down to $1100 USD with a hard shell case and IMO it was more than worth it.

I'm looking at the white with maple board damn things £1500 tho!! The Duncan's would have to come straight out I'm not a fan full stop. I could buy a decent used prs or even 2-3 decent used ibanez for the cost that's the conundrum.

Re: has any1 owned an esp m-2

I have a purple ESP MII deluxe with maple neck from 1997. Bought it brand new. One of the best guitars I have ever owned or played! I have posted a picture of it, but can't insert the link until I have 10 posts or more. It is on the last page of the forum thread of " what non Ibanez guitars does everyone own here" It is a well built, and great sounding guitar. Love the flat neck and low action.
