How to do a direct pickup mount?

Hi guy,
I was just wondering how you would go about direct mounting pickups to a guitar body?
I want to be able to raise the pickups up and down aswell.
I have have some foam and springs and all the stuff required.
it is a new guitar aswell so its a clean installment i just need to get
a more understanding of how to do it, i don't want to mess it up.
im installing a seymour duncan alnico 2 pro into an ibanez jem stlye body.

any help appreciated thanks.

Re: How to do a direct pickup mount?

I did this on my LTD M1000 - I just put some foam under the pickup and screwed right into the body. Make sure you use dense foam that will push back up enough to allow you to raise the pickup if you want. It may not be the technically correct way to do it (I'm certainly no luthier or tech) but it worked for me. Good luck.

Re: How to do a direct pickup mount?

I am in the same boat as you are. What kind of screws do you have to mount them? It would be nice if someone had a nice drawn out diagram on how to do this.
