How much can I tighten the springs on my 7-string UV777P?

Iíve changed strings from 9 mm to 10 mm and still tuned it in E.

As you can see the tremolo is way to high up.

Iím a newbie when it comes to Tremolo, and therefore in doubt and afraid of not crashing my new homeboy by pulling the screws too much inside itís body.

Iím also in doubt about if the bar is going too much down to the left side??

I play 10s too.
I take the spings out and cut the circle on the claw end off.
Then I bend down the next coil on the spring.
This makes the spring shorter so I don't have to turn the screws in so far.

Hi Sabastian. Is that a common "spring-trick"??

I don't know???
I just came up with it on my own.
Something had to pull harder or be shorter.
I've done it to at least 20 guitars.

i would just reconfigure the 3 springs like this

or add a fourth spring

The string triangle helps very little with 10s

or you could add a 4th spring to help deal with the extra tension

If you add more springs, it wont float the same way.

That is exactly why I have been in doubt, if I should add one.
I’ll try your spring trick, and then I write back.

Wish me luck ;-)

It will work with more springs, I know.
It just feels different.

3 springs are fine. Try to learn proper setup techniques. Go to ibanezrules.com/tech

I’ve already been looking in there but I can’t find any explanation for the problem. If you know where it is, then please tell me.

I’ve taking the springs out, and it seems like I need some bad ass tools, that will be able to manage a hardcore spring job.
