Hi I'm looking to buy a jem floral from the late 80s Ive always wanted one its the guitar of my dreams. Ive seen a few recently for sale but noticed something odd both of the jems Ive seen have had the back neck plates replaced so don't have the original jem plate. I would love to know why this is and should I be worried. one of the guitars in from a music shop.

cant anyone help ??? wonder if its something to do with corroding metal maybe that's why they are sometimes replaced ????

IMHO there is no reason to replace the JEM neck plate. Corrosion is cosmetic and superficial to the metal plating. I assume the worst in these cases... people take the plate and use it to create a "fake" JEM (putting a generic plate on the real jem). If the floral is real and you get a great price on it without the real neck plate go for it as a player.
