Information on the RG505

I recently was told that My RG550's neck was stamped RG505 at the neck joint on the inside of where it is bolted on. Does anyone have any information on the RG505's specs and it's history and how it compares to the RG550 if it even does. Really would like to know if I have a rare guitar or if there is no difference between the two guitars. Thanks Forum!!

Re: Information on the RG505

I believe it's a European model, much like the RG5000. Pretty much the same specs as the 550s, but with different color options.

Re: Information on the RG505

The RG505 and RG550 are visually very similar the main difference being that the RG505 is listed as having a Wizard II neck in the promotional materials.

It's not a "rare" guitar but was a production guitar for just a few years. It came about in the mid 90s when the RG550 had become a relatively high spec guitar and the RG505 sat at a pricepoint level between the 470 and 550, using specs (apart from the neck profile) more in line with the original 550.

Great guitars all round
