Perfect intonation... HIGHER FRETS ARE FLAT!!!

I never really noticed this before but I noticed that my RG350DX's higher notes (frets 15-24) sounded a little flat. I played them into a chromatic tuner and sure enough, the notes appear flat. How can this be possible? The only thing I can come up with is bad fret spacing which I hope is not the case because that means I have to buy a new neck. Please reply...

AND yes, I put the strings in PERFECT intonation.

is the neck possibly bowed somewhere?! not necessarily a good idea, but an idea nonetheless!

try pressing a little harder when you fret.

I had the same thing happen on the same guitar but it was only on 1 string. I had to move the G strings saddle way back as far as I could get it to correct it. the saddle looks like its barely hanging on there, but I haven't had any problems since. Sounds like you need a set up to me??

Re: Perfect intonation... HIGHER FRETS ARE FLAT!!!

I seriously doubt your fret spacing is off. I'd try intonating your strings to the 24th fret.

PERFECT intonation on every fret isn't possible. You can get it close, but there is no way to get every note on every string to be in PERFECT pitch. That's why they call guitars a "compensated" tuning system. You have to compensate for variations.

A wide number of variables can affect how accurate your intonation is, including string thickness, fret wear, string height, bridge angle, finger pressure, etc. You're going to just have to try intonating your strings in a way that better compensates for that adjustment.

That is what I was thinking too. There are always slight variations.
