[photos]Marshall head

I'm actually contemplating putting this up for sale, and decided to take some photos first, after having a bit of a play ofcourse.

I haven't been in a band for a very long time, and I no longer need such a loud head. I'm more than happy with my Pod XT pro & BBE sonic maximiser.

Anyway, here are the photos I took of it today. These are pretty much straight off the camera. Minor unsharp and curves adjustment in post.

She looks too pretty to sell.

Re: [photos]Marshall head

I'd keep it, could give you a different tone from your current amp.

Yeah, it does give me an awesome tone. BUT, at deafening levels. lol.

Maybe I'm getting old.

It's painful at 4, and you can already start to feel the sound through you at 4.

Anything below that and it's not as nice at all. Loses it's chunk and growl.

100watts... Very, very loud. Out in the open it's brilliant. But I live in the suburbs.

Re: [photos]Marshall head

That's a beast of a head...

if you're not in a band and I guess you practice / jam at home you'll never be able to use it as it should be used - even if you've pipe it through a THD or a Weber etc

Unless you're attached to it, e.g. it was your 1st 'proper' amp or your wife or parents bought it for you etc I'd get rid and buy something else with the cash. Wether thats a smaller amp or a mixer or whatever.

nice pics btw

Nice pics, that will help you sell it and you'll get more for it than if you had crappy pics. Those are gas inducing photos.
In your situation I would sell it. And if you want another amp with the money then look for a cool low wattage tube amp.

Get a power soak or hotplate.
Makes a great heater in the winter time.

Re: [photos]Marshall head

Funnily enough I tried to find an attenuator here in Australia to try before I went and bought the Pod xt pro and BBE a few years ago. Came up with nothing. None of the stores stocked any, and I kept getting the, "naah, you don't want to do that" spiel from the sales people.

My preferred shop said they could get one in, but only if I was willing to actually buy it without trying it. *sigh*, the perks of living in Australia.

I guess I really should sell it, haven't used it properly in a very long time, and the money could go to something a bit more useful.

Thanks guys for the comments .

I wish to have a jcm 2000. I can't even afford even a stupidly good solid state amp. Maybe one day when I'm very old I'll get my hand on the Jcm 2000

I have the 50 watt version and it sounds quite good at bedroom volumes. It doesn't sound the same as when I crank it on stage but still good and very usable. Rob Balducci used my amp at Jemfest.
