Re: 17 sec away from death

what is so special about that?

i dunno, but it doesn't take my 17 seconds to casually walk out a car. i mean, you must be able to see the warning signs, hear it coming, and see the lights.

Re: 17 sec away from death

That's creepy. I'm not familiar with this area either. I hope it doesn't happen to me. Then again, I generally don't hang out around train tracks. Or hang out in Greer. I've been told it's in my best interest to stay away from that area.

EDIT: Post number 800 for me. Clearly I need a girlfriend. I will be taking applications starting immedietely.

Re: 17 sec away from death

Media hype at it's best...... didn't the report say she turned onto the tracks? Like what she could drive on them? She didn't see the crossing guards as she turned?

Plus it said it took the cop like more than a minute to get her off a cell phone and out of the car. Seventeen seconds my @ss..... Plus I'm not sure, but I think it's a requirement that all trains blow their horns 1/4 mi. before a crossing..... plenty of notice to move your @ss.

Re: 17 sec away from death

She was wobbling a bit so she wasn't right from what I could see in the video.

I have had people I've known get struck by trains so it is a scary reality.

I don't think you understand this area. People really are that stupid around here. I've seen some pretty ignorant things In my short time I've been down here.

Re: 17 sec away from death

ok, you mistakingly turn on to the tracks...now your mind is racing. how do you get your car unstuck? where my cell phone? do i back up? if the car is running, the radio might still be on and windows up. bright light is probably a car driving by. did I damage the car? wait, theres a cop walking up.... 17 sec is absolutely nothing. to be that close to death is remarkable. it doesn't take a dopey person to be distracted by the situation long enough for that train to plow them in 17 secs. plus, if she had an adult beverage in her, that doesn't help. it was a near miss for her. hopefully she'll get a new respect for her life..... and at least learn to play the guitar.
