Re: Any April fools jokes?
Here's one from 3 years ago. My dad phoned for some internet music buying advice. He has eclectic tastes, everything from the Beatles of his youth to Hendrix, Queen and some modern pop which I don't get.
He mentioned buying a CD of a rather rotund British singer from the 80s called Alison Moyet and how he loved her voice. I replied wow "if you like the stuff she recorded under that name, you should try track down her earlier less known stuff on amazon" and then explained that Alison used to be a lesser known male performer called Alex Moyet before the operation who was equally talented as a male jazz singer. He was astounded with the news and set off on his quest to find the earlier CDs. Along the way he must have spread the news to quite a few of his friends.
About a month later I was in work and my mobile rang, his opening greeting was "you ****ing prick, a friend just showed me her wikipedia page, she was never a man. There will be payback!". It actually took me a while to figure out what he was on about.
about a year ago I got a call to say the police had seized a PC I bought him for his birthday as stolen, he had been arrested and how disappointed and embarassed he felt. I hit the roof, dug out the receipt and told him I was hanging up to call a close friend who's a detective to get it straightned out. I asked for the names of officers and he replied "I don't know, but one of them told me he used to be a woman, now don't try to make an arsehole of me again"
