BB King Passes Away :(

Very sad news. I don't think anyone here hasn't at least tried to learn some of his licks at some point. At least he got to live to a good age and was touring until almost the end.

End of a legend, for sure. I always appreciated him more as a bandleader than a guitarist, but his influence on the evolution of the guitar as a lead voice is incalculable.

Sad day, no question. A true bluesman who was relevant for decades and really did change the way guitar was played.
RIP BB

Re: BB King Passes Away :(

Growing up I always knew he was one of the key players but I fell under his spell many years ago when I saw him in this movie:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRHV-HWhqWQ

I almost lost my breath, and it's so funny how he said,"I'm horrible with chords" so does that mean he would stand there, sing some of the song, and play the lead? What can that do? OMG!

To this day I have never seen anything quite like this on film regarding just pure guitar genius. And his singing? Just as amazing, too. How does one person possess both?

Wow... Seems like he was just touring recently! A true blues legend that had his own sound and style.

Rest in peace BB!

Today I use .007 string gauge because of Billy Gibbons, who uses .007 because of B.B. King. The story is really interesting:
