Re: Best guitarist ever?

The Best guitarist in the whole world is the person you think is the best. There is NO factual best guitarist, all guitarists are good at some ting and other guitarists are better at other things.

In my mind Steve Vai is the best.

I don't get it. He sounds out of tune everytime I see him play, and he can barely hit a lick. He has this "cultish" type following.
Niel Young has his own style. It's very powerful if your into it. I love his guitar playing.

Thats true Niel is a great songwriter and maybe thats what makes his music so powerful. It's real and from the heart.

Re: Best guitarist ever?

Paul Gilbert
Yngwie Malmsteen
Satch
GARY MOORE
Vai
Rhoads
and can't forget about Jimmy Page (early years)
Les Paul
Chet Atkins
Pretty much sums it all up, oh you can add EVH somewhere in there.

Re: Best guitarist ever?

i think Jason Becker is the player who has impressed me most of all.

Allen Holdsworth is pretty mindblowing.

Both Carvin men too - i obviously need one.

Re: Best guitarist ever?

There are too many variable involved here.
I agree that you ncat pick the best ever, you can just poick who are your favorites.

I like different players for their versatility and styles.

Neil Schon
Michael Lee Firkins
George Lynch
EVH
Alex Lifeson
SRV
Jimi
Vai
Zappa
Keneally

Each of these players is no better than the other, they have different styles.
