bikergangs

While reading over the news recently about the biker gang activity up here in Canada, I came across this:

Among the activities the feds say the gangs regularly take part in:

-Drug trafficking;
-Money laundering;
-Murder;
-Fraud;
-Theft;
-Prostitution;
-Trafficking of illegal weapons and contraband and oddly enough,
-Telemarketing

Wait a minute.. I can understand, the drug trafficking, the money laundering, murder, prositution and such.. but why the **** is Telemarketing doing there?? When was the last time you got a call from a guy in a biker gang trying to sell you something?? I mean what would they use telemarketing for?? Should I be expecting some guy to call me up and say "Hi, this is Gruff calling from the Hell's one arm bandit motorcycle club, we're trying to do a fundraiser to help us support the families of some of our fallen members. Would you be able to make a donation to support our cause?"

Does this mean that bikergangs are the source of all the telemarketing and spam e-mail activity?? No offense to anyone in a "Motorcycle Club" but when did telemarketing get up there with drug trafficking and prostituion in illegal activities? (no wonder telemarketing jobs pay better than McDonalds).

Re: bikergangs

Maybe they offered products by phone and cashed in on the orders without ever sending anything...

Re: bikergangs

There's only a small handful of 'gangs' that account for this type of organized crime, and I don't think they have members in this board! That lifestyle is a full time job (until you get killed or go to prison).
I've heard the red and white have been making a lot of trouble up north recently. Isn't one of their big shots on trial in Montreal now? Those gangs are like roaches, you need to drive them out and make it as close to impossible for them to come back as you can.

My band once played a gig for a Gang called "the Devils Deciples". hahaha !!
They were about as "Devilish" as a small child with a balloon.

Re: bikergangs

Some telemarketing firms are just a cover for various phone scams. I'm sure there is big money to be made.

Re: bikergangs

They call you up and tell you that they will sell you an Ibanez Jem of your choosing for only $200 and you can send it back and they will even pay to ship it if you are not satisfied. Being that they know no one will refuse, they then have your address so they can hunt you down and kill you....

just a thought....

Re: bikergangs

Here in Chile "biker gangs" are totally pathetic. As a reference, the price of a Harley is what a young doctor makes in about 6 months, or about 1/4th of a 3 bedroom apartment in a good neighbourhood costs...

So, the "gangs" are these 50 year old executive type guys, dressed head to toe in Harley leather clothes, cruising around town "looking cool" and trying to impress young girls

Anymore that's what most of them are over here

Hells Angels, Banditos and SOS aren't what they used to be although obviously there is still SOME of those kind of activites. But it's far from the extent it used to be. A lot of them actually do GOOD things for society like holding charities and fund raisers.

Knowing this - I am still underage for a Harley and leather

Re: bikergangs

My last boss was one of those fake Harley owners, he would work having a Harley into any conversation he could, but he was anything but a real biker.

On a side note I used to occationally drink with some of the bad guy bikers without even knowing it, they were nice guys, but when I found out who they were, I was glad that I never tried to act tough with them.

Re: bikergangs

Well there are a lot of posers too, but the real bikers are still hardcore. Just look at what happened with this gangland style killing.

Hehe they have their hands on everything also here in northern Europe especially Scandinavia they're quite active. We've had 3 bikergang wars over the last 30 years or so between Hells Angels and other rival gangs.

Re: bikergangs

Pickup trucks are the mode of conveyance used by most of the Angels/Outlaws/Pagans now; the bikes are really just for show, to make you think they aren't organized criminal groups masquerading as anything else. The Angels have been involved in a lot of killing in Canada in the last 10 years. I've read they killed half of the animals in the Rock Machine (in Montreal) and the rest just became Angels to stay alive.
